Lol, not a single person who voted yes has explained what makes Vits resume on par with those of other ATG's. Very interesting!

    You missed out chisora.

And the biggest scalp of them all...

    Retiring Lemmux the Canadian ATG

    That alone makes him atg

Less than 20 fights Chisora was no great win, and we can hardly count his TKO6 loss as a win.

You can only deal with the fighters in your era. Vitali beat most of them he faced, he only lost two fights, one in a fight he dominated where he retired due to physical problems with his body and another to an atg heavyweight. Vitali is arguably not a top 10 heavyweight of all time but will be in the top 20 for sure. He would give any heavyweight in history a competitive fight.

    -Less that 20fights??
What's that got to do with it?

Had sonny liston beaten Ali who had 19fights at the time would that be a good win or **** win?
    :rofl:patsch
Tko6 was so bad that it retired lemmux. And despite it being a loss on paper it was an eventwin6 for vitali. Retired the champ forever.

Vlad = atg just deal with it

Lennox had already planned on retiring. Do you need the link? And what does less than 20 bfights have to do with it? I don't know, why not let him fight guys with less than 10 fights or even 5 fights for that matter. Are you really that thick? :patsch

Ok to say top 20 'for sure' is a statement not a fact. I believe he is top 20. His height, reach, strength and ring generalship would surely be a challenge to any heavyweight of any era. I am not saying he would beat the greats but he certainly would test all of them. I don't believe his resume can be compared to the likes of Holmes, Marciano, Dempsey, Ali etc but he along with his brother were the best of their era after Lewis retired.

He dominated his era. That is all you can ask of any champion.

H2h I agree with you, he is among the best. But his resume is sorely lacking and keeps him quite a ways away from being an ATG in my opinion.

When you ask "Is Vitali an ATG", what does that mean precisely? Top 10 ATG? Top 20 ATG? Top 100 ATG? Top 500 ATG?

If we use equal-weight criteria of resume vs. h2h ability vs. mainstream appeal then I think you will find it hard to deny Vitali a spot among the 50 best and most influential HWs that ever lived.

Is Vitali a top 10 ATG? I don't think so, not with a mediocre resume like that. Top 50? Probably. So is Vitali an ATG? Yes, history will refer to him as one of the best couple dozen HWs that ever lived.

Personally I like top 20. But to each his own if that person is willing to provide a list and explain.

I personally have him outside of top 20, but inside top 35. Not too shabby for a clumsy and robotic former kickboxer.
