It boosted Vitali's because a whole bunch of people out there think he holds a victory over the great Lennox Lewis.

In reality, it just ends up hurting both of their resumes, as most defeats do for HOF-caliber fighters.

 

Well this isn't true.

Vitali went 2-0 then retired for 4+ years.

During his comeback since 2008, he has only fought a few actual top 10 contenders while little brother Wladimir has been dominating the division ever since Lennox walked away.

 

the early, very brutal stoppage of prime vits by retiring lewis does vitali more good resumerwise than all his wins combined.

of course Vits has matched Lewis in terms of longevity.

CLEARLY Vitali's who's two best fights were loses to the two best fighters he ever faced. LL getting the win means nothing more than 90% of fans already knows. Vitali may have been lineal champion between Lennox and Wladimir, but Wladimir is clearly by far and away the "next dominant champ."
