First of all please do not just post here who do you think that will win, you can do it in other topics... This is about the tactics of the fight.

What are the Keys to Victory for Roy and Tito? How should they fight? If you would be their trainers, what kind of a tactic would you set?

    My advises to:

    Roy Jones Jr.
    - Fight in spurts
    - Move a lot, try to keep him on the outside, don´t allow him to hit you to the hands
    - Stay ogf the ropes
    - Throw fast and furious combos from outside
    - If you hurt him, go for the KO
    - Use you size in the inside and throw double/triple hooks, the tie him up. Throw and tie up, don´t let him punch you.
    - Don´t fight him in the half distance
    - Take the control of the fight from round one
    - Don´t trade punches
    - Don´t counter punch too much

    So basicly Roy´s fightplan should be;
    - Move a lot, throw your fast combos and tie him up.

    Felix "Tito" Trinidad
    - Use your jab
    - Pressure him
    - Throw a lot punches
    - Fight a controlled fight
    - Try to get him into the ropes
    - Use your speed
    - Don´t allow him to take breathers, keep the pressure up
    - Use fast punches and combos, the worst thing you could do would be to just throw hard, slow single punches and hope for one to land
    - Cut off the ring, don´t walk after him

So like you see, I think that both guys should BOX, use their skills! What do you think they should do?

Props to you for typing up those game plans. Nicely done.

My advice to both men would be the same: Walk him down.

Both men should come out banging. As the saying goes, whoever lands first lands best.

I belive that if the other boxer uses your fightplan and the other yours, then my boxer, the one that will use his skills and box would win. :yep

I think you did a pretty good job Champ :good

In Short. Here's my take on it.

    1. Both of these guys are extremely consistent with their styles, at least they were. Tito COULD only fight one way and it worked, 90% of the time. Roy never had to fight any other way.

    2. 5 years ago, them fighting the way they did, Roy would shut him out and KO him in the early to mid rounds....no question.

    3. Today, Roy only CAN fight one way and it is a hybrid form of his old style, mixed with a generic version of the 'rope-a-dope' defense. Tito still CAN ONLY fight one way as well. The difference is at their old ages and with their long inactivity (jones has fought, but he has been inactive on the big stage) Tito's style is the one that is more favorable in this fight.

    4. Roy will own the center of the ring, but have to retreat to the ropes throughout the round to take breathers and rest his legs. Tito will be on his toes, jabbing his way in and constantly pressuring. The fight is going to have Tito getting hit clean 1 or 2 times and then getting Roy on the ropes.....over and over. The question is will Roy have enough at this weight to drop Tito with his pot shots that do land? Also, will Tito have enough to hurt Roy on the ropes?

I see Tito coming off the canvas early and then outlasting Jones and stopping him late. :deal

I can see that happening! I don´t belive that Roy´s stamina will be good at 170. If he tryes to take Tito out early, he just might wear himself down.
