Like I said it would be used to relax Mosley and make him commit and bait him in opposed to just following him around and loading up with power. Now he could have cut the ring off but he can't do that to save his life. So since he can't do that then he could have relaxed Mosley by throwing the jab. I don't care if he has the shorter reach. Its about relaxing Mosley to pull him in.

It isn't a "no-no". He is doing a "skip" to speed up his moving to the side. He squares up because it allows him to move even faster to the side while putting maximum distance between him and Mike. Best example of this move by an active quality fighter is Andre Dirrell. Mike is mirroring the same skip but toward the middle of the ring to cut off the amount of ring he has.

    :patsch

Manny wasn't concerned with Mosley's power. Manny was WIDE OPEN to be hit all night while chasing Mosley. That is why Richardson kept telling him to throw his right hand. It was damn near guaranteed to land. And that "level of comp" comment is pretty much out of the window when a journeyman, Bryan Vera, can do what SSM can't, i.e., beat Mora.

The size of the ring does not change the concept. It is obvious to anyone watching that fight that Pac has no understanding of the CONCEPT of how to cut off the ring. :deal

Talking to these dudes is pointless. I am not saying I am some done it all Boxer, but these guys don't understand the BASIC concepts of Boxing. Things like baiting guys in is a foreign concept to them because they miss 99% of the subtle things that are done in a fight.

In their ignorant world only a flat footed toughman contest is a "fight". Things like using movement, turning opponents, cutting off the ring, leaving openings to bait guys in, etc... are lost on them. They can only see "action". :-(

I can't tell you how tired I am of Pacquiao fans, just saying stuff that's not only stupid, but goes against the entire history of boxing................They're just saying stuff they want to hear.

The reason Manny couldn't hit a 40 year old, with no legs, no stamina, with maybe 10% in the tank, for 12 full rounds, were his own failings.

The answer is, he needs to get a lot more talent

Pacquiao fans are near as damn it admitting that unless someone stands with Manny and trades with him, he's not going to be very good.

    Yes, I agree completely.

But it's not some conspiracy against him. In boxing, you're supposed to have the ability to beat all styles

As if mayweather would struggle to beat the crap out of a 40 year old running away from him!

Of course he's moving faster b/c he's "Shimmying" laterally but that's still a no-no unless you are regulating distance effectively which he was not. His lil jab did nothing to keep Tyson out of his zone which is why Tyson was able to close distance easily.

ATHLETIC FIGHTERS like Andre D and Roy Jones or Floyd and even PAC have the ability to get away with many common boxing "no-nos". Take ALI for instance.....you know that lateral movement is the best way to avoid offense...NOT leaning or moving straight back, yet ALI was one who not only could do it in his prime, he was able to effectively counter all the while.

You are nuts if you think PAC wasn't "concerned" or aware of Shane's power! PAC would be stupid NOT to be aware of it. Of course at some point PAC said the **** with it and was pretty reckless at times, but he was really trying to go for the KO which prompted Shane to RUN HARDER, FASTER and with more URGENCY.

The right hand was thrown quite a few times by Shane but most missed the mark. He did catch PAC early with the right hand and stopped PAC for a momment but whenever Shane tried it again PAC would simply use head and upper body movement to avoid it.

Many have tried to land the right hand on PAC and some are successful...but that success is always brief and short lived. PAC has shown he can adjust and adapt when there is some success from his oppoennts.

The art of cutting off the ring is NOT as hard as you are trying to make it seem. With PAc's foot work and speed, cuttng off the ring is NOT a problem. He just can't control how anther man reacts to his offense. Shane was running...NOT boxing.

Pac has to take some of the blame more to it than mosely was too slippery for him.
i think either pac took him lightly didnt train or was concerned about moselys right hand.

PAC's to blame for being FAR too nice and taking it easy on Shane. The touching of gloves and the OVER respect during the fight didn't allow PAC to go full tilt. It wasn't until Shane got credited with the KD that PAC's fire was Lit and he literally had to CHASE Shane around the ring.

 There are no "no-no's" when you are surviving. It was also obviously working because Tyson had to mirror it and skip to the center to start the process again.

What does that have to do with anything? AD just uses the side skip. So for you to say what is a "no-no" is irrelevant. Boxers do what works in the appropriate situation. Just like if a guy is too dominant you can go into a full out quick sprint/jog to keep from getting cut off, e.g., Whittaker!

Who said he wasn't? This is elite level Boxing. Everybody has pop. Pac, even in his awareness, was wide the hell open and couldn't head him off. So again it points to a lack of SKILL.

Please. The point is it wasn't thrown anywhere near enough. If your coach is BEGGING you to throw it isn't thrown enough. Not hard to avoid punches that aren't thrown.

Many? You talking about the leftovers, shells, and weight drained guys he is fighting? Please. This isn't about the past. This is about today. Pac showed he can't cut off a ring.

Trying to make it seem? I think it is a BASIC skill that ALL offensive fighters should be well versed in. Doubly so for guys with "Oh Sh*t!" power. Why? Because dudes running MUST be a part of the game plan and accounted for. In the same breath I have seen many a ranked and now even elite level fighter not seem to have mastery of the skill.

Again showcasing yourself, Um Boxing is all about anticipating and controlling how another man reacts to your offense. I swear man how do you feel comfortable posting this stuff?

WTF!:rofl It's a "no-no" going into the fight looking to survive vs going in there looking to WIN! This is boxing son...we don't want any bullsh*t , half steppin boxers looking to run. If we want to see men running we'll watch a track meet.

And it's not the same thing as a fighter who comes to fight, gets caught and holds or creates distance to clear his head. Shane's head was cleared after the KD since he had a min to recover.

There's certain fundamentals of boxing that works for MOST! Those working with MORE athletic ability, talent and natural gifts can do and apply things the majority can't in the ring....or many other sports for that matter.

And don't give me that **** about SweatPea....he would run, job or skip but it was more for show...he wasn't doing it the whole fight it was to entertain and be "cute" in the ring! With a name like "Sweat Pea".... He'd real cute right before he embarrasses you with elusive defense and accurate countering.

At this level for you to imply there is a LACK of skill for PAC shows you WON'T give PAC credit. You CHOOSE not to b/c you don't like him. That much is clear.

Of course the right hand wasn't being thrown enough, but that was a calcuatled decision Shane made b/c he didn't like the odds or "risk vs reward" factor.

Yes...throwing the right would be the best chance at catching PAc and winning the fight, but in doing so it leaves the window of oppotunity open for PAC to land anther shot that will either hurt or end up resluting in a KO loss. Shane mentally decided that the risk did not outweigh the reward.

RUNNING HAS NO PART IN BOXING! Unless it's for road work or preparing for a fight. In the ring RUNNING is no respected!

I agree that boxing is about showcasing what you are as a fighter and what you bring to the table. But Shane didn't showcase anything related to the sweet science. He just showed he could have been a world class sprinter.

Stop clutchin at straws just so you can hate! You are trying to give credit for Shane's performance simply b/c it helps you with agenda to hate on PAC! You funny as **** son!

This what I was thinking of too immediately after the fight. We have someone with a toy jab, no inside fighting skills, and inability to cut off a ring but is dubbed as the "best" offense

Then perhaps you shouldn't allowed fights to be scheduled when you KNOW one of the combatants, based on his own recent deteriotated performances, has NO chance or interest in winning the fight, and is there exclusively for the payday.

When you do that, this is to be expected. It is silly to be mad at a
sh!t fight for being, you know, sh!tty.
