Who had the better career ? Who fought the better fighters ? Who learnt there mistakes ? :huh I hate myself for asking this but IMAGINE a P4P H2H, who you reckon takes the metal back home ? :smoke
Had a feeling this would be quiet. Theres a lot of top KNOWLEDGABLE posters here that do it when it counts........would be appreciated. Some i understand can and cant say etc etc. At least this thread wont turn to utter shyte like a LOT of Brit Forum threads recently. E.G. go waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy off-topic.
Enzo Mac fought the better fighters. David Haye - cruiserweight champ. Braithwaite - ex champ. Ola and Lebedev look decent, potential wise anyway, they still have some way to go but you could imagine them turning out to be better than they appeared when Maccarinelli fought them. Takloo fought many domestic and european class fighters.
How DARE you !!!! Ok, it was the bulletin style posts aye ? :good I take Tak to be aprehensive as hell as Enzo could be and counter Enzo back to the shed AND look bad doing it. Tak, for me always looked awkward/upright etc...no flow, his style looked easy to hit BUT it wasnt. What i remember anyways...... **** the paper rankings..........Boxrec voyuer posters........tell me why he couldnt bingo the big ENZZZZZ ?
Enzo had the better opposition (and mainly lost) as pointed out by Erik the Red, but I would much rather watch a Tak fight
Enzo fought at world level and won and defend his title a few times and also had a fight for unified titles against Haye and was also ranked as one of the top guys in his weight class. He headlined a itv bill and fought and won at a better level....so i go for Enzo. Takaloo's career was pretty good for a domestic fighter he did well imo and can hold head high but tonight Enzo is taking home that metal back home.
Wow strange comparison. Almost Flint like. I'd say That Tak was p4p the better fighter However his division was absolutely full of talent. I'll never forgive the promoters for not giving us the big domestic fights we deserved. They could have made thousands and perhaps a domestic/euro/world star instead they were greedy and foolish.
Enzo only fought at world level once and got his ass well and truly knocked out. Braithwaite was his best win, but was faded, WBO level. Azzaoui = fringe Euro level. Afolabi = sparring partner. Hobson = top end domestic level. Lebedev = remains to be seen, IMO WBO/Euro level. Tak fought some decent guys in a seriously strong division and underachieved..... I'd put them at a par.
Some see what am looking at :good No need for quotes.... The WBU belt didnt lose character or class just as the WBO does now, the promoters did that. Nice bulletin posting btw
Hearn would have done it. The problem was Warren. We had some fine light middles back then. What a ****ing waste.
I'd say Takaloo his division was stacked with so many good fighters even at british level. If Enzo had fought Haye before they moved up in class i don't think this would be close. The only thing Enzo has over Takaloo is the WBO title
Just greedy ****ers..... Look at this for a list..... Arnie Steve Roberts Wayne Alexander Richard Williams Takaloo Gary Lockett Ryan Rhodes Micheal Jones Jamie Moore Mathew Macklin Scott Dixon Paul Samuals plus Geoff McCreesh, Adrian Stone, James Hare, Jawald Khaliq, Jimmy Vincent, Neil Sinclair, David Barnes and Micheal Carruth all hanging around at Welter achieving nothing internationally. Its a ****ing travesty that this era was allowed to pass without much highlight. Sure a few of them fought but these guys should have been mixing it from area level all the way up to Euro level. Greedy promoters.
 Makes Benn-Eubank-Collins look like a couple of drunks at closing time. Lockett was a fraud though :deal
I remember ALL of them like yesterday. I can tell you who fought who and when. Every Friday night my spot was either infront of the TV or down at York Hall or Dagenham. Stone was the only one that really made it on a world level but he got found out. Hare was lets be frank quite overrated but by the time Barnes fought him it didnt matter. Jim Watt loved the kid for some reason!??! Jimmy had a massive pikey following but was a solid welter who always gave you a great domestic scrap. As for Khaliq i wish he'd done more in the sport than call out Forrest for a laugh and get knocked down multiple times vs a shot to **** Jan Bergman. Sinclair was a fearsome puncher but he too went the WBU route got disenfranchised with the whole game and bowed out unceremoniously with his only defining moment dropping Santos on his ass. As for out light middles dont make me go there.. Its ****s me off to rememeber it all :-(
