As Chitown suggested... Would like to see him take on Stiverne, but I doubt it would happen. Price/Hammer winner would be good as well, but like Stiverne the winner of that fight probably wants nothing to do with Takam and will pray for a fight with the Klitschko/Joshua winner.

The best thing Takam could do is learn to pace himself a bit better as he gets older. He's savvy in there, can throw most punches... But he's getting older and his stamina is already iffy. He's durable enough to take a step back and make his opponents come to mind instead of just brawling.

Reminds me of Ross Puritty a little bit...

Needs to pursue some big fights this year... Unfortunately for him I think the Duhaupas match would have been enough to land another big fight, but we all know what happened there. At 36 he probably has a good 2 years left in him before he start seriously declining.

Yeah. He's built like a **** brick house, guys like that have worse work rates as they get older.... But think about similar fighters like George Foreman, who could really sell up. Even Shannon Briggs is so damned big he can do it a bit at an advanced age. Ross Puritty was good old because of a stellar defense.

Most of those really heavy sets heavyweights can shell up very well. Big thick arms to cover up with, durable in general, knows how to keep his eyes on the shots, short necks that seem to help with durability just a tiny bit.

He could be a post 40 "success" story. As in, hang around the bottom of the top 10 on and off post 40. Maybe.

I went down like that once, I was at a little party when I was a teenager and was sitting on a sofa knocking back shots like a savage.

Anyway, I stood up and my legs were still sitting down, they betrayed me, I fell face first over a coffee table, smashed a few glasses but I didn't have a scratch on me, I am teak tough.

Well we live and learn, I always smash shots standing up now then I get a sense that my legs are starting to believe they are independent from my body.

That's a problem for Takam. He's a lot more risk than reward, unless it's for a vacant title, eliminator, or a high ranking he's going to have trouble making top fights.

I'd add Stiverne, Breazeale and Scott to the list (if Scott does his road runner act that is).

Takam's not a guy who's always going to get the KO, but he will batter you to within an inch of your life if you can't hang with him. I think Johnson would want to retire after a fight with Carlos.

Fighters like Takam are the meat and potatoes of what make up a division and make it worth watching. Solid, competitive guys who quietly get on with their work while the divas hog the spotlight. I'd put Chisora, Duhaupas, Hammer and Rossy in the same sort of bracket.

Takam's the best of the bunch of course and a bonafide threat to anyone in the division with his toughness, pressure and experience.

He definitely needs to go after Wilder. That's a very winnable fight for him, though I can see all sorts of roadblocks being thrown up to prevent him from his goal.

He should still go after Duhaupas, or failing that try to get Stiverne into the ring. Stiverne would have his hands full.
