Takam would beat Ortiz right now, but at their best Ortiz would win a one-sided points decision.

Both Takam and Ortiz have huge question marks over their chins in 2023. From recent performances, you'd have to argue that Ortiz has looked worse. His legs are gone, his chin is much easier to crack and his willingness to engage has dropped dramatically. That's not a good combination against a front-foot brawler like Takam.

Nothing from Ortiz's last 2 performances fills me with the confidence to say he'd beat Takam.

Ortiz held his own vs Ruiz. Apart from the knockdowns he was Ruiz equal. Only the knockdowns made the difference.

I agree, but what I'm saying is his chin is unlikely to hold up against Takam. Takam may not hold up against Ortiz either, hence the 50/50.

The difference is that Ortiz's legs are shot, he doesn't move like he used to and appears to be carrying an injury late in his career. Against both Ruiz and Martin he looked awful. That's not to say they didn't look awful as well.

I think there's a big difference in skill though. Ortiz is comparable to top 10 fighters in terms of skill, and has good power.

If this is a boxing match, I'd expect Ortiz to win, so long as he avoids too many knock downs.

I appreciate that, but that's where I think we disagree. I've never considered Ortiz a great boxer and on the other hand I think Takam is somewhat under appreciated.

But, that's why opinions exist

He wasn't outboxed by Ruiz who is a good boxer. He clearly has skills. He's just old and shot.

Takam will need knockdowns to win.

Takam performed far worse against Parker and Joshua than Ruiz did and Ortiz recently went 50-50 with Ruiz, minus the 2 KD's he wins the fight. I doubt Takam could beat Ortiz even now, Ortiz is still taller, more powerful, more determined, more skilled, a southpaw and only 1.5 years older.

I enjoy how you apply triangle theories to fit your agenda, but as soon as the same logic is applied to Wilder or Fury, you **** yourself.

Before anyone attempts to argue sense into this moron, let it be know that this is the infamous

Takam couldn't even lift his right arm when the fight was over. He hurt himself at the end of the fight.

I think he's done. He should go out on a high note. If he has to rehab, he'll be out for a while.

Takam was a good pro. He got shots against a lot of contenders and basically lost to all of them. He had his opportunities. He just came up short.

There's nothing wrong with simply being a good pro fighter. Carlos was always in shape. He never embarrassed himself in there. He always gave a good effort.

People really want to overrate him, but his best win came at age 42 against a guy who now falls to 11-2 and, since he lost to Takam, is considered a monumental failure.

If you're a going to be a factor in the division, you must be able to beat the likes of a Carlos Takam. If Takam was anything more than that, losing to him wouldn't be such a big deal.
