Takashi Uchiyama is a 35 year old 5'7.5 Super Featherweight with a 23-0-1 19 KO's record. Born in Nagasaki Prefecture, grew up in Kasukabe, Saitama, and fighting out of Tokyo, Japan. 内山 高志 is a decorated amatuer with a 91-22 59 KO's record, which isn't that great looking but he managed to win 4 Lightweight titles along the way. While not the most technically gifted boxer out of Japan he is by far one of the most powerful, they don't call him KO Dynamite for nothing, he has very good defense, and is overall a solid fighter who is pretty good at everything. He went pro at the advanced age of 26 but as many fighters recently have proved Boxing isn't a young man's game anymore. Truly he's one of the more underseen and underrated fighters in all of the sport and should be considered for most P4P Top 20 lists but because he stays in Japan he's not very well known to the outside world which is quite a pity. So hopefully the feared Uchiyama can make his way to the states eventually and challenge Garcia, Barthelemy, Salido or rising star Estrella and maybe eventually some FW's will make their way up to challenge him as well like Mares, Loma, Walters or Gonzalez. So Check Out Uchiyama The Tortoise The Number 1 P4P Fighter in Japan.:toney:toney:toney:toney

There's a KO he scored early in his career that was a gorgeous body shot, almost as good as the Parra one.

Sounds like you are the one who needs to educate yourself on him. I've been watching him for years.

Look *******:D I'm not sure what your point is in going after 2 of the few people on this site that actually give a damn about fighters from Asia and Europe, first in IB and now me, I've known about Uchiyama for quite awhile now as well, so get off your high horse and pick on someone who isn't trying to bring attention to some of the fighters you evidently so dearly love, rather than me, I'm glad that you know a lot about Asian boxing most likely more than I but I'm not doing these threads to have a ***** measuring contest about who the bigger boxing nerd is, its clear we both are and IB is also pretty damn nerdy as well.

I'm doing these threads to bring attention to fighters I think need more fans and I've noticed every time over the past few months when I've tried to do one on an Asian fighter not named Manny Pacquiao the threads are virtually ignored and might have 150 views, they are obviously less popular than my EE or Latino threads. So I figured I'd strike while the iron was hot, since everyone seems to be experiencing Inoue Fever I can unload all the Asian threads I've been planning to do for the last 6 months. And maybe someone will actually notice them for a change.

I get it you like Asian boxing, good for you.... so do I and Intentional Butt does as well, you very well may know more than me, good for you, then why don't try to Educate others as well and spread the word instead of fighting with me.

That is how often I would have liked for him to fight the last few years all throughout his reign. The only year he did was 2010, when the reign started.

In that four years since becoming champion he made nine defenses - but only half of those were really world class opponents (Salgado to seize the WBA title, Miura, Solis, Farenas and Vasquez).

Between inactivity and 'soft touches' in more than half of his defenses Uchiyama's prime has begun to seem a bit of a waste.

He could have spent his early 30's cleaning house at 130lbs and establishing a serious legacy if he only had traveled and took on the best. I'd have favored him over pretty much all the other champs during that period.

    Real shame.
