    This is very intriguing.

Gamboa leagues faster but has questionable mandible.

Both men has power to stop it with one shot.

I'd say Uchiyama's classic style would bring him a points win scoring a knockdown in the process.

That's a very good match-up. I'd favor the best Gamboa out of anyone in the division, but I'm not sure when or where he'll shot up; certain aspects of his last performance can be excused, such as his overall ring rust, the underrated capabilities of his opponent, but some cannot, including his cockiness and lack of defensive discipline. Uchiyama is a hard hitter and is fundamentally sound, solid body puncher, but Gamboa's athletic and technical abilities stand out more to me. So I'd favor Gamboa, but I'd be nervous of a lapse in focus affecting his chances.

Yea, Gamboa is definitely faster but he looked pretty sluggish and way slower in his last fight against farenas. He also doesn't have the most durable chin as he has been dropped a couple times before by lesser fighter. If he could avoid getting hit clean he can probably use his speed and athleticism to win a decision i think

Let's put it this way: I think Michael Farenas and Bryan Vasquez are on a very similar level. (with a prospective h2h 50-50 chance for either Vasquez on points or Farenas by one-punch KO)

Gamboa and Uchiyama each struggled with one or the other - but Gamboa had it rougher.

Vasquez was able to trouble Uchiyama with speed and slick in-and-out movement using a low-hands reflex-based daredevil defense. Gamboa is faster than Vasquez, and better at that style.

Farenas was able to trouble Gamboa with heavy pressure and heavy hands. Uchiyama is a vastly superior pressure fighter, with more cunning in walking enemies down and more on-the-spot timing to go with bigger power.

    :think

    It's a great stylistic contrast.

Gamboa had a tougher time, but he was also rustier.

Gamboa of this pat 8th of December would have been stopped by Uchiyama IMO.

But at his best, its a diffrent story...Would be very close to call, ill say Gamboa edges it by a razor thin decision.

Both on their A game, I can see them trading knockdowns like a couple of kids with baseball cards. :yep

Scoring would be a MESS. (if it went that far...)

definitely need to watch the vasquez fight to make a better assessment, but i'd say it'd either be a uchiyama ko or gamboa decision

Gamboa is ranked # 1 by the WBA...this fight could easily be his next....I do favor gamboa in a very tough fight...

Whoever came out on top would have a pretty amazing resume dating back to 2010.

Neither man can be said to have fought soft.

Gamboa walked into the ring at 148 in his last fight and I've seen the way he trains. I think if he switched a few things up in training camp and came into the ring more comfortably, then I'd favor him to win confidently
