1. Any merit to the "Corrie Sanders could have been great" theory? He could have done maybe a lot, but probably not great. We'll never know... 2. Overrated fight? Hagler vs. Hearns Great fight, but not even close to "The greatest fight of all time" people claim it to be. 3. Forgotten (or slept on) gem? Freitas vs. Casamayor 4. Who'll be the better pro, Rau'shee Wa*ren or Vasyl Lomachenko? My money is on Lomachenko. We'll see. 5. Better amateur, Lomachenko or Rigondeaux? Rigo. Lomachenko has great amateur credentials, but Rigo is on a whole other level. 6. Will Pavlik ever bounce back? Not to where he once was. I think he'll make a decent comeback, though. 7. Last fight you watched? Leonard vs. Hagler 8. Most overrated attribute? Hand speed 9. Most underrated attribute? Lack of rhythm/patterns 10. Would Jack Johnson's style be effective nowadays? His specific style probably wouldn't be too effective. As a fighter, I think Jack Johnson could be effective, but he would have to employ different mannerisms of his style.
224 views, and only a few participants. Man...this is why I hate the general forum. I try to give people something fun and interesting to talk about besides that **** tease Pac-May affair...:-( Thanks to those who participated but **** you general mofos. I wish they'd make a Pac-PBF sub-forum for you schmucks and leave the general to real boxing fans.
1. Any merit to the "Corrie Sanders could have been great" theory? Sure, but it doesn't mean anything. Ivan Calderon could've been a great heavyweight if he was 15" taller and 150lbs heavier. 2. Overrated fight? Berto-Ortiz. Wholly uneventful after (a great) round 6. 3. Forgotten (or slept on) gem? No idea 4. Who'll be the better pro, Rau'shee Wa*ren or Vasyl Lomachenko? See next answer 5. Better amateur, Lomachenko or Rigondeaux? Don't watch the ams 6. Will Pavlik ever bounce back? Never. He's been finished for years now. 7. Last fight you watched? FNF last week 8. Most overrated attribute? "Technical skill" 9. Most underrated attribute? Heart 10. Would Jack Johnson's style be effective nowadays? Not a chance in hell.
1. Any merit to the "Corrie Sanders could have been great" theory? No. He was a quick explosive guy who was dangerous for the 1st couple but didnt have the punch resistance or stamina to be great imo. 2. Overrated fight? James kirkland vs Alfredo Angulo. Great 1st round no doubt then it was a one sided beating for kirkland enjoyable but not the great 2 sided slugfest its made out to be. 3. Forgotten (or slept on) gem? Trinidad vs Yori Boy Campas really fun 4th round slugfest thats not really spoken about today. 4. Who'll be the better pro, Rau'shee Wa*ren or Vasyl Lomachenko? I Haven't seen enough of both men the little i have seen i'd have to say lomachenko although ****** has a more 'pro-friendly' style. 5. Better amateur, Lomachenko or Rigondeaux? Rigondeaux best amatuer I have ever seen. I dont follow the amateurs but he was one of the only ones i remembered after seeing him in the major tournaments. 6. Will Pavlik ever bounce back? Doubtful. Doesnt seem to want it enough still think he could cause some damage against the right opponents. 7. Last fight you watched? Mayweather vs Judah. 8. Most overrated attribute? Power. Big punchers get people going overboard 9. Most underrated attribute? Defence. 10. Would Jack Johnson's style be effective nowadays? Yes his style would be however he himself using it is very doubtful would be very small in comparison to todays heavys
1. Any merit to the "Corrie Sanders could have been great" theory? Yes...maybe he would've fallen short, but he had some great physical attributes and could've done much more if he was 100% dedicated 2. Overrated fight? Holyfield-Tyson I 3. Forgotten (or slept on) gem? Page-Lopez 4. Who'll be the better pro, Rau'shee Wa*ren or Vasyl Lomachenko? War*en...unsure though 5. Better amateur, Lomachenko or Rigondeaux? Rigondeaux 6. Will Pavlik ever bounce back? Not at the championship level 7. Last fight you watched? Ali-Frazier III 8. Most overrated attribute? Punching power 9. Most underrated attribute? Footwork (not to be confused with footspeed) 10. Would Jack Johnson's style be effective nowadays? No

Thank you Tony. I needed a damn break. 1. Any merit to the "Corrie Sanders could have been great" theory? Sure. He was huge and athletic, and the mother****er could punch. If he would have just showed more dedication earlier in his career and stayed in shape, that era would have looked A LOT different. 2. Overrated fight? Honestly... Ortiz vs. Berto I. It was a GREAT fight for 6 rounds, then Berto hopped on the bicycle and the action died for the last half. Anticlimactic. 3. Forgotten (or slept on) gem? 1991 Fight of the Year, "Kid" Akeem Anifowoshe vs. Robert "Pikin" Quiroga. Also.. Courtney Burton vs. Ebo Elder from 2004. 4. Who'll be the better pro, Rau'shee Wa*ren or Vasyl Lomachenko? I'm not familiar enough of Lomachenko to effectively analyze this one, but this gives me some Youtube fodder for later tonight. :good 5. Better amateur, Lomachenko or Rigondeaux? Dammit Tony... 6. Will Pavlik ever bounce back? I don't think so. He'll get a couple more big fights, he'll lose, and then 1 of 2 things will happen: A) He'll go back to Ohio and resume his personal downhill slide, or B) He'll become a gatekeeper for a while before going back to Ohio to resume his personal downhill slide. I could be wrong though. 7. Last fight you watched? *sigh* I just rewatched Mayweather vs. Ortiz last night. 8. Most overrated attribute? Chin. 9. Most underrated attribute? Head Movement. 10. Would Jack Johnson's style be effective nowadays? It depends on who he is fighting. I think he could probably do pretty well in a mid-west club scene but the top level guys would beat his ass. Not only that, but his hugging and smothering style would probably not be very entertaining to today's ADHD boxing fans.
1. Any merit to the "Corrie Sanders could have been great" theory? I would answer yes. I've not seen many fighter with that much pop in their punches. The way he started both of his fights against the Klitchkos is the way every punchers should start a fight. He was fearless and believed he could KO anyone. I was impressed at how he could punch through Vitali's guard and hurt him. I've not seen anyone else doing it. He was a world champion without being in top shape, of course he could've been much better. 2. Overrated fight? I can't think of anything. Most of the fights I didn't like were not liked by anyone. A snoozefest is a snoozefest. I'm a big fan of Hagler vs Hearns by the way. 3. Forgotten (or slept on) gem? Not forgotten, but I'll mention Matthew Saad Muhammad vs Yaqui Lopez II for those who've not seen it. By the way, I had never seen nor heard about Mickey Ward vs Emmanuel Augustus (Burton at the time) before today... What a fight ! 4. Who'll be the better pro, Rau'shee Wa*ren or Vasyl Lomachenko? Who ? 5. Better amateur, Lomachenko or Rigondeaux? Don't know Lomachenko. 6. Will Pavlik ever bounce back? I think he'll claim a belt at SMW and lose it fast. He should fight at a higher weight than MW, where he'll meet fighters with less speed. 7. Last fight you watched? Larry Holmes vs Ken Northon 8. Most overrated attribute? Probably power. It should not be the answer, because it is really important, but most of the bad predictions I see are made because of the famous puncher's chance. When you can't land a punch and eat leather in the first 5 rounds, most of the time your power disappear. 9. Most underrated attribute? I'd call it multitasking haha. Men in general are not as good as women in doing many things at a time and it is also true for some boxers. A guy like Mayweather can take a quick step back, move his head just out of punching range and throw a quick jab all at the same time. Roberto Duran was an expert at this, as are most guys with good defense/counterpunching abilities. I don't believe that guys like Khan and Judah are good at it. They are coming forward, they are punching or they are running around. Almost never at the same time. They're predictable. 10. Would Jack Johnson's style be effective nowadays? No. Jack Johnson did what he had to do at the time, but fighters found a way to beat the style of each previous generation. If we could bring Johnson in 2012 with a time machine, train him for a year and show him fight tapes, he would box differently and be competitive.
I know this wasn't directed at me... but I take exception to the World of Warcraft comment, since I'm one of those who can raid heroic endgame content and still wrap both our hands and show you a thing or 2 in the ring. My Dad is the same... top PvP rogue on our server now, but served as a main sparring partner for Riddick Bowe while he prepared for Holyfield II and runs a gym. Jens Pulver plays WoW as well. Boxing and video game nerdery are not mutually exclusive, ****.
