And they would still be very Good. Easy question guy's who were the boxers that you feel that if you took away their best weapon would still be top class?
Prime Sonny Liston maybe....take away Liston's telephone pole left jab.....which would leave the opponent the option to go inside and beat Sonny face to face.
Tyson would still be lethel without a uppercut Joe Louis would still be lethel without his jab Ali was great when his footwork left him
SRL-take away his legs and he changes his name to Neal seriously take away his movement and he looks more like Donald Curry Shavers-take away his right and he never gets a title shot or into contention Frazier-his hook was his best weapon and without it he never makes the top ten
Fitzsimmons without his power. He actually seems to have been able to comfortably outboximg the top middleweight, so he would have still had a very good career, but he couldn't have beaten Corbett and became heavyweight champion.
Thanks for the response guy's. Funnily enough this thread came about because a friend of mine mentioned the taking away of Shavers right hand and power and he'd be a nothin' contender.
Winky Wright’s short torso. Still a tough out with his jab. Hearns’s right cross. Master boxer when he wanted to be. Holyfield’s hard head. Nearly unmatched determination to win.
In line with the actual ask Michael Spinks without his devastating right hand would still go very well. He still had big big power in his left hand and showed in his move to heavyweight that he could do extremely well without his monster right hand. At 175 he'd still have his left as well and no size disadvantages.
Take away Duran's power and you'd have a guy who could still outbox plenty of fighters - or, in other words, Duran was still a great fighter when he moved up from the lightweight division!
