Take into consideration the WBO title coming along at the perfect time for these guys like him...who ten years earlier would been no different to Colin Jones or Herol Graham. Quoting someone cause I agree with them. Benn and Eubank only won world titles at 160 because the WBO had recently been created and they would never have been world champs at 160 ten year earlier at the same age, Benn at least did go on to become the WBC champ at 168, but had improved by then. Which other WBO champs at diffderent weights in the 90`s would not have won world titles ten years earlier? Jamal Perkins
Not sure. I'd have to cast my mind back. The US media was probably the only boxing media that wanted nothing to do with the WBO. (Rightly so) Just something to think about when people blame the plethora of champions in the sport. Think of the media, the promoters, the fighters and all others who gleefully jumped into bed with sanctioning bodies like the WBO. And the fans who didn't seem to mind having a few more 'champions' from their country.
