Anybody else feel Team Parker looked out of their depth? I won't go as far as saying they were scared but they did really look uncomfortable. Not to mention the way Parker turned away from the face off and AJ stared him down. Also too address some rumours.. it sounds as though the Daniel Dubois knockout of AJ in sparring sounds like complete bullsh*t. AJ addressed all the times he been rocked and down and he did give big Davey Price a shoutout I don't see why he wouldn't mention it if it happened. Thoughts?
I don't blame boxers for looking away after a while. Unless you're a raging homo it must be unpleasant (or boring) standing so close to another man, staring at his face. Nothing against raging homos, but I'm guessing Parker isn't one.
You must have some serious unresolved issues if you think looking at a bloke is uncomfortable. Seek help.
Not at all. I didn't say "looking at a bloke". Most people feel uncomfortable standing so close to another person that they can feel their breath etc. Unless it's someone very close to you, related intimately, or someone you're very attracted to. That's why people talk about "invading my personal space". It's normal to stand a little bit away from other people. People who put their faces in other people's faces are considered weird and usually disliked. That's a heads up for you, in case you've been doing it to everyone you encounter. No one wants to smell your breath.
He's on AJ's turf. Enemy territory. His troops are outnumbered. His back up is back back home in New Zealand and you're gonna feel a bit uneasy and edgy when you're on enemy turf and you're outnumbered and outgunned. Big respect to J-Park for coming over to the lion's den where everything is stacked against him. It is what it is. It is what it isn't.
Fortunately I don't have to do this sort of thing as I'm not a professional boxer. If I was I'd probably not be bothered at all about doing something that has been part of the sport for years and is designed to increase my bank balance. I certainly wouldn't be a little biatch about having to look into a man's eyes if I was meant to be tough fighting sort of person.
I think it's the weirdest, creepiest, and most homoerotic thing when their foreheads come together and they stare into each other's eyes...
Well, it's quite a recent thing for them to have an obligatory close-quarters "face off" as part of the press conference formula. When I started following boxing you didn't really see much of it. The fact that "face offs" might in fact add to the monetary value appeal of a fight, as you imply, just goes to show what a freakshow circus boxing has become. It's pure pantomime. It's become like WWE wrestling. I didn't suggest that fighters should be a little biatch about it. But I don't blame them when they look away after a significant while has passed. It doesn't prove anything. It's a child's game really. Fighting and staring are completely different pursuits. This is all just my opinion though. I don't have a massive issue with the face offs but your comments have made me explain myself further. Personally I think face offs are silly, that's all. They are best when when one (or both) of the fighters doesn't even pretend to take it seriously.
Please tell me why AJ wore a hat and stilts to try to appear taller than he is? Is AJ feeling a bit intimidated? Is he overcompensating for his lack of self belief?
Only thing I got from it was that the size difference appears to be not near as much as I thought. It's more than likely Joshua has been starched in sparring, not that it matters at all.
