Takeshi "Paul" Fuji KO 4 Willy Quatuor

Had you picked up those two punches before, EB? I think the footage of Fuji's wins over Quatour and Lopopolo make it clear that he was capable of getting the job done as the result of a single shot against championship competition. This is a man with a knockout ratio of over 75%. The only other time Lopopolo was stopped in 77 fights, it took 13 rounds to do it, and that was in his penultimate fight, just before Sandro turned 33. What Fuji did to him was utterly unique in the Italian's dozen years of competition.

 

Still, claiming his chin as Chuvalo-esque doesn't hold much weight given how clearly hurt he was by Hernandez. That there was a clean, hard shot at the right time, right as Locche was moving in for his own counter. It's borderline absurd to suggest that his chin was on that level given how little evidence we have for such a claim.

 

Perhaps. Cervantes could also hit though, and he never had Locche in apparent distress during their rematch. (Cervantes-Locche II should not have been stopped, and my inclination is to always ignore that single result in his record.) Again, Pambele often needed just one solid strike to do the job. No, I do not claim Locche's chin as Chuvalo-esque, but I think it may have been better than say, Loughran's. He did fight some good punchers, and was never stunned into a stoppage in 136 fights. That clearly trumps Loughran's two knockout losses in Sharkey I and Hamas I.

 

Fuji was pretty bad and far too slow for that style, but savagely brutal all the same.he makes fighters like Moon and Benes look like crafty stylists.

I would wager serviceable standup types that don't use a lot of upperbody or lateral movement and are more comfortable boxing would be his ideal style to excel against.Loppopolo was a good win all things considered.I'd give him a solid chance at knocking out Hatton.

Fuji would have fit well into the '80s junior Welter scene as far as potential entertaining matchups go.

 

Maybe someone like Coggi too if he caught him on an off-night.

 

Fuji would have beheaded Hatton in a manner similar ala Cuevas.

 

I think Hatton has a good style to match up with Fuji, but he could be taken out at any point.

That mauling would seriously take some of the leverage from Fuji's 'maddie' swings.

 

Yeah, Hatton would pprobably be in front, i just don't have much faith in his D, or chin lasting 12-15 rounds.Fuji is too limited to put a great deal of faith in either, mind you.

 

Horrible match up really.
