I've decided i think i need to take a few weeks or a couple of months off from boxing. I've really not improved in the last year and its easy to see that in sparring I'm having problems. For one reason or another I can't seem to do anything right at the moment in boxing and I think that maybe a lay off for a few weeks or a month or two might help me to get back to it. I'm going to keep up my running and bag work at home as well as weight training and concentrate on losing weight. Hopefully when I go back I'll begin to make progress again. I told my coach and he accepted it but I feel really depressed to be honest although I think its my only option as something clearly wasn't right. What do you guys think?
Everyone gets fed up now and again like the days where u feel crappy on the pads or feel shitty in sparring. A break could help you as it may help you realise what was going wrong before. If u have had any bouts u could look at the video and look for things you did bad.
do it. not too long though, dont want to lose all your fitness or it will feel REALLY hard when you get back. i used to take a week, ten days off after fights, go boozing, eat shitty stuff. makes you appreciate how good you feel when really fit..
I am the same way. Whenever I plan to take a break from boxing and say I take one month off I am right back at it after a week. I quess it's my addiction. Some people like drinking parting smoking going to clubs I go to gym and train boxing. SoI guess like those HBO documentaries ends ....boxing=my life
Hey mate, nice to see you back :good I think it's a good idea. I was doing **** at the end of last year. Took about 3 months off, kept up fitness, but girls and booze and being a stocky guy upped my weight. I came back though really determined, lost the weight and have really gone up a level. Don't regret doing it. When you're boxing badly, repetitive everyday training seems to make it worse. Don't do it for 3 months though, you lose too much time losing weight when you could be competing. How many you had now Mick?
Welcome back MIK! I agree with AVK, sometimes a bit of a rest can do you good. It's helped me before, take a break, get your head straight, and come back fired up to get back into it.
