You'll all be absolutely fine, if you've taken them football and they enjoy that and are good with crowds and noise then this will be great, they are going to love it.

You'll probably see quite a few other Dads there with a teenager of two. I've personally always felt far safer at boxing events than when I go over to watch the Mighty Tottenham Hotspur.

The security teams at these events are also very good now, I think they do a great job, in my youth I used to do event security and it's improved drastically over the last 10 years.

Also boxing crowds have really changed over the years, more women go now, actually more families go.

I really hope you all enjoy it and have a great night, make sure you come back on and let us know how it went and if you all enjoyed it.

I'm genuinely interested why you wouldn't want to take your girlfriend to an event?

I've taken my wife to boxing events before, after years of me watching boxing on TV and seeing me go off to watch boxing she wanted to go.

She is actually a very knowledgeable boxing fan these days.

So, anyway after she asked I took her and she absolutely loved it, don't get me wrong, for me it was very different than going with friends but it was interesting and actually hilarious watching her get swept up in the atmosphere and emotionally involved in the fights.

Take your girlfriend, she'll love it.

Thanks for the insight, I may consider it. Main reason is I don’t like taking her anywhere near places where people get obnoxiously drunk or rowdy. I just have it in the back of my mind that it takes one idiot to say something or do something and next thing I’ll be involved in some sort of brawl. Sounds OTT I know but I had an incident like that when we went to a casino on holiday and I just resolved to keep her away from that environment.

I did tentatively think of taking her to York Hall for the Bakole fight since it’s a smaller crowd but left it too late and couldn’t find a pair anywhere other than ringside. She’s not a boxing fan at all either, so that’s another factor.

Will probably pop her cherry next year.

I understand what you're saying, I really do.

But I would look at it like that sort of thing can happen anywhere, but like you say if that sort of thing has happened to you before then you will be far more conscious of the potential problems.

That's a shame in many ways but you always get the odd moron spoiling other people's nights out.

Also if she isn't a boxing fan then maybe she's wouldn't like it anyway or she could go the other way and become a huge boxing fan LOL

Well I hope some event/show comes along in 2019 that feels comfortable enough for you to take her to and you both have a great night.

Cheers mate. I will keep an eye out for a show (with some established pros at least) at York Hall maybe particularly since I’ve yet to attend an event there and it’s on my bucket list.

    Superb,

I love York Hall, the atmosphere in there can be amazing, if you ever get a chance to go then definitely go, you won't regret it.

Relax Josh Buddy, I've had friends go to hearns events in the past and they've had no problems on the whole, theres a lot of stewards at the 02 and stadiums fights. Enjoy the night with the young lads as these events aint cheap! Im going too- atmosphere and fights hopefully live up to it!

The only Matchroom Show I’ve been to where I would say avoid was the old Leeds shows which were just horrible with quite a few scraps.

Yes, there’s the odd drunken fight but nothing like some of the Warren shows where it seems to be a pitch battle at ringside at times. Didn’t see any fights at the weekend in the crowd.

Having said that the most hurt I’ve seen anyone was at a Matchroom show at the MEN where a really lairy drunk guy was brutally KOd and remained unconscious for quite a while after AJ Molina. This guy was an absolute idiot and you would just avoid with the kids.

Like anything else if your sensible there won’t be any hassle at all. Enjoy it and it will create very special memories for the little ones.

I've been to 3-4 matchroom shows and will probably go again on Dec 8th with the wife.

Every event has been well manned from a security perspective, you will always get the odd idiot although at the Brook v Rabchenko he was 'escorted out' quite quickly.

One thing I noticed that the cheaper seats do seem to attract the larger group of lads that just want to get drunk and be loud (I assume before hitting the bars/clubs in the city).

Also agree with the people that say people wouldn't kick off near children and if something was too happen nearby I would be confident a number of other people would ensure both you and your kids are ok.
