Kogawa sharp and bouncy to a good 10-9 first round...

Hisataka was having a great round, imposing his strength...then BOOM! down he goes!

    Round 2

Starts looking like the first for a while, then Hisataka gains some ground. Lands good body blows and defends Kogawa's return fire pretty well. Gets dropped hard in the exchange right at the end of the round! Very nice.

    20-17 Kogawa

    Round 3

Kogawa no longer landing any of the solid shots quite like in the first round and he is clearly being affected by what is a good pace and workrate from Hisataka. Hisataka really starts landing a heavy body oriented attack in the final half of the round.

    29-27 Kogawa

Hisataka seems to be relying too much on physical strength, he needs up the damn work rate to have a real chance. Kogawa is tough as old boots and has a fantastic engine

    Round 4

Kogawa controls the opening and lands a huge right hand. Hisataka battles back and lands some telling blows of his own. Just as Kogawa looks about ready to seal a tight round toward the end, he gets hurt near the ropes and falls backward into them, essentially held up by the bottom two ropes for a moment.

I'm torn on the scoring for this. Got to go 10-10.

    39-37 Kogawa

Round 4 was great, like you said 10-10 and Japanese judges DO score plenty of 10-10's

Hisataka doing some shoulder roll action and through the fight has been trying to out-muscle Kogawa in the clinches. Kogawa has his best whole round since the first, landing in flurried combinations multiple times as well as not getting drilled to the body.

    49-46 Kogawa

Rough fight, Hisataka looking the bigger, tougher and rougher, Kogawa looking the better, faster and more skilled. Very tough for both...and to think this is more competitive than most of the stuff the premium channels show!

Kogawa ups his output significantly in this round. Hisataka does his best to wrestle his way to comfort and where he can land to the body, but Kogawa has done well to nullify that of late. Kogawa landing a lot of flurries and a couple of them toward the middle of the round seemed to rattle Hisataka's head around, although never in or near real trouble though.

    59-55 Kogawa

Great fight. My score doesn't really indicate the competitiveness by this point after Kogawa got comfortable (and since the referee non-called KD for Hisataka is a 2 point swing even from my 10-10).

I swear if this was on HBO and between two fighters everyone knows, they'd be yelling "WAR" and "FOTY-contender" up in here.

They are flailing and going crazy at war here in the 7th round. Kogawa takes it for me in what was quite sloppy but entertaining exchanging.

    Kogawa 69-64

Holy ****! What an insane round! Kogawa using the engine he is known for and fights like a man possessed! Hisataka stumbling forward but looking exhausted. Great final round!

    **** yeah!

God damnit gimme Kogawa Vs Muranaka II!

    Round 8

More of the exact same of the crazy action from round 7! Both warring. Kogawa content to lay on the ropes for a stretch and while he perhaps landed a couple more, Hisataka's punches this round seemed to have greater affect on Kogawa then before. Both undoubtedly tired at the pace and action of this fight. I wish Compubox was tracking these last two rounds. Kogawa nails Hisataka and has him wobbled at the end. Hisataka wobbles him back and into the ropes! They continue non-stop exchanging!

    78-74 Kogawa

Epic fight. Round of the Year candidate?!?!?!

    --------------------

Kogawa gets his hand raised. He and his trainer hug Hisataka in a good embrace, they exchange words, ridiculously attractive and well dressed ring card girls pose with him.
