The other entagables ... the height ... fists size ... workrate ... endurance ... stamina ...

all together Margarito has the advantages in all those categories I listed above.

Why because throwing 80 punches per round equates to super fast punches? :D

It doesn't ... I didn't say those two things went hand and hand ... i'm saying that Margarito isn't as slow as people make him to be.

I don't know if he's as fast as Cotto ... but i'm sure that he will show some speed during that fight.

Power - Margarito ... Margarito has power in both hands ... both are accumulation punchers ... with Margarito having KO power with the right hand over the top and with the right uppercut.
Speed - Cotto ... Cotto is very fast and has shown that early in fights - while Margarito has the same speed consistantly.
Agility - Cotto ... Cotto has great rhythm, moves great, and has good savvy.
Stamina - Margarrito ... Margarito never gets tired and turns it up down the stretch.
Body - Even ... niether guy has been tested to the body, like each other have done to others.
Chin - Margarito ... Margarito has never been hurt w/ a head shot ... I seen him hurt against Santos off a body shot.
Heart - Even ... both guys have a ton of heart w/ neither fighter ever being knocked out and have rallied down the stretch after being hurt.
Cuts - Even ... both guys are cut prone

I know you didn't mean to say that. The "80 punches/round = superfast punches" is a statement a poster once made, currently the running gag pertaining to Cotto/Margarito discussions.

Cotto is going to get mugged, and it's going to be ugly. He will hang in there for awhile but once he loses just a whiff of gas he's going to be destroyed a la a Six Heads Lewis.

Well, it might not be quite that brutal but that's the kind of thing that is going to happen.

There are only 3 boxers who have done anything with Margo over the last decade or so: Paul Williams, Daniel Santos and Joshua Clottey.

Paul Williams is about 6'3" with an EIGHTY TWO inch reach. Miguel Cotto is 5'7" with a 67" inch reach. Totally different body types. And to boot, Williams threw over 100 punches a round against Margo. If Cotto tries to do that, he will be KO'd within about 4 rounds.

Daniel Santos. Santos is 5'11"1/2 and has 74" reach, one inch greater than Margo's own 73." Santos is also slightly taller than the 5'11" Margo.

Santos is a highly-skilled, fluid fighter who has very quick hands and is naturally larger than Margo. The second fight between these two men (a technical decision loss for Margo after 9 rounds after a cut from an accidental head butt ended the bout) was at 154, the only time I think Margo fought at that weight.

Again, not someone who is anything close to the physical makeup of Cotto.

That leaves Joshua Clottey. That is, the guy who got shut-out for the last 8 rounds of his fight against Margo, supposedly because of a broken or strained hand/wrist/finger/knuckle. Whatever the case, Clottey got his ass kicked after the first 4 rounds and Margo set a new compubox record while throwing 1675 punches at Clottey.

People forget that Margo was himself injured heading into the fight (ankle) and I think suffered another injury during the bout. Plus, he had just come off of a 10 month layoff or so.

Yet he still set the compubox record and dominated Clottey over the last 2/3rds of the contest.

Now, the delusional hope by the Cotto Crew is that their guy can fight the fight Clottey was fighting for the first 4 rounds for the entire 12 against Margarito. A couple of doses of reality:

Clottey is 1" taller and has a 3" reach advantage over Cotto
Clottey is bigger than Cotto, particularly in the arms and shoulders
Clottey's defense is 1,000 times better than Cotto's
Clottey's chin is 1,000 times better than Cotto's

Let me put it this way: Margo won't be able to set any compubox records against Cotto because there is no way that Cotto will last for 1675 punches. He would be KO'd long before that number could be threatened.

Cotto is easy to hit, and his chin is soft. Punches Clottey would be blocking with his high gloves will be thudding off of Cotto's chin. Cotto doesn't have the physical tools or the defense to execute Clottey's gameplan and Clottey's gameplan only worked for 4 rounds before Margo started playing Whack-A-Joshua to his record CompuBox output.

I think it will be a near-miracle if Cotto makes it to the final bell.

I think the only way Cotto can win is if he scores a fluke KO of his own, something like a Hopkins bodyshot KO of ODLH.

But for that, Cotto is going to smacked around from pillar to post. He does not have the tools to last with Margo and if he tries to open up his offense it will only hasten his demise.

Less than 4 weeks to go on the Miguel Cotto "Jermaine Taylor Overhyped HBO Fraud" express. Enjoy the ride while you can, because the last stop is coming up fast.

I don't have any personal emphasis on dimensions and measurements but I do agree with the majority of this post. A bucket of ice water is what that was. :bbb

You have Chin as a tie? Cotto clearly has the better chin.

Margarito has a much better chin than Cotto, by far.
