Its sad, but true Cus only took Tyson in because of his potential talent. When you look at the big picture, taking Tyson off the street probably saved a lot of innocent lives that would have devestated familes for a life time. We could go back and forth, but when it comes down to it... its really a catch 22.

There is no denying that Cus could have done more for the man like getting his help, but as you and I said, Cus' only purpose was to mold him into the best fighter he could be. I don't see how boxing hindered his development, but I do see the logic in Cus' ability to do more for the man in his personal development as a man and didn't.

Hey whatever turns you on man...

So I'm a "huggist" because I use my brain to form an opinon that is contrary to what the majority says. I call that being a leader, I form an opinion and defend it against all comers. I'm not the type that goes along with the crowd like a mindless troll, if I feel differently about something.

    Nicely put.

I would actually give Tyson a better chance to beat Foreman than to beat Ali.

If one thing troubled Tyson, then it's clinchers who weren't afraid. Watch the Holyfield fight. Ali would clinch the hell out of Tyson early (legally or not), by the 6th, Tyson would submit to a slow and painful battering.

If one thing did not trouble Ali, then it was big punchers.

Yes, Tyson has more power than Frazier in a single punch. But how relevantis that? So did Foreman, Shavers, Liston, Foster (Mac) and perhaps a few others.

Frazier didn't beat Ali because of the power in his left hook. He beat Ali by pressuring Ali for 3 minutes over every single round, while keep throwing punches and making Ali uncomfortable. Tyson does not work that way.

I've already heard of the arguement about Ali's clinch etc.. and Tyson was way out of his Prime in the Holy fight so that has no bearing with me.

Its not about power alone, but about precision. That is something that Tyson had more of then any of the aforementioned power hits you named. As I've said, Tyson is dangerous to any heavyweight in the opening rounds. Of course Tyson doesn't work the way Fraizer did because he's not Fraizer.

from 00:04 to 00:19, rooney said tyson had the potential to become the greatest fighter ever, breaking marciano's record of 49-0, and probably go underfeated in his whole career to become the greatest fighter ever.

do you guys really believe it could've happen.?

I agree that Tyson had the most talent of all, but I disagree that he is H2H #1. I think there are a few guys in their prime that could take him.

They are still trying to grasp the fact that he isn't champion or fighting anymore.

Like everyone else who grew up during the 80's and 90's, I was a big fan of Tyson's, and felt that he could have troubled or beaten a lot of all time great heavyweights. On the otherhand, I disagree with Popshot's claim that Tyson could knockout Muhammad Ali early. There's no ****in' way Mike's taking out Muhammad in any round. We're not talking about Carl Williams here. This was a guy who withstood and endured some of the toughest 15 round matches in the history of the divsion, and also survived the artilary of George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston and Earnie Shavers. He was never truly stopped, and was still getting in the ring with all time greats well into his late thirties. The best Tyson could hope for in this fight is to floor Ali a couple times enroute to a decision, but I wouldn't bet money on him to do it. Ali would have my vote for a win evertime, and if this match were scheduled for 15 rounds, then I think we can forget about Mike even coming close.

    .....My $0.02.....

After reading these posts, I'm even more convinced that the Ali of 67' would handle Tyson and stop him in the last 3rd of the fight.

    1) Too many guys lasted the distance with the peak Tyson
    2) Tyson would get too frustrated with Ali's movement
    3) Ali would whisper all kinds of damaging comments into Tyson's fragile psyche, not mentioning the pre-fight trash talk.
    4) Ali would buzz Tyson with lightning combos thrown @ all angles.

Just watch Ali vs. Liston #1 and see how he moved around the ring, that would drive Tyson nuts.

Yeah I think he deserves 10 points for originality. Especially for his cutting edge thoughts on Tyson koing Ali early
