Young Foreman had no need an IQ ring. It was enough throwing bombs continuously and absorbing blows with the head to win. Old Foreman instead had a decent IQ ring because he had more experience.
Oleksandr Khyzhniak - He's an absolute beast, but the way he fought in the 3rd round of the Olympics final when the Gold medal was already his, was complete stupidity.
This is ignorant. See how young George works to stay at his optimal punching distance and bearing to the target? He doesn't look fluid and tricky to you so you casually dismiss him as clumsy. He doesn't bend at the waist and shoulder roll and all of that but he is always working to be in the position to punch because that was his strong suit. One knows and plays to one's strengths. No IQ.
Lol, this was an old comment haha. I think what I meant back then was that Pacquiao didn't have the highest ring IQ like some of his contemporaries he shared an era with like Floyd or Hopkins (Pac doesn't emphasize too much on head movement or defense in his fights) but he's still one of the ATGs of boxing history. I'm not trying to talk cra/p on Pacman, just an observation
Audley Harrison, fought scared despite having a size, skill and reach advantage over most of his opponents.
Pacquiao was known for his head movements & faints, his defense has always been high level & he easily could have ran, illegally clinch as well but that's the type if IQ best suited for the fighters you mentioned above.
Actually you got a point, when he fought JMM the first time his skills were lacking but he progressed fast when he teamed up with Roach.
Maidana. Didn't even have a clue where his own corner was. Neverminded lack of footwork, poor use of the ropes, no sense of zoning, etc. Floyd has to direct this dude to the correct corner in front of the audience and IIRC the commentators even laughed about it. Dunno if I would say Maidana was talented, but he was surely the definition of someone with no ring IQ.
