"King" Arthur Abraham is a walking ZOMBIE. The guy throws wild swooping shots and if he fights Pavlik, he is getting KO'd. That long jab and straight right of Pavlik's will find its target from the opening bell. Abraham will have problems with anyone with a high workrate and someone who is technically sound. He has a decent chin and high gaurd, but doesn't have a resume, they're all either bums or shot fighters. After being in the ring with Hopkins, a great technician, Pavlik will have learned what it takes to figure out the one dimensional stooge Abraham. Pavlik's only worry is getting caught with somthing stupid and it already happened in Taylor I, won't happen again.
Yeah right, he's so slow yet he absolutely outclassed Marquez. He's so slow he knocked Miranda spark out. He will be so slow he'll knock Pavlik straight out.
I agree he loses to a technically sound and cautious operator, with a good output. Kessler would be a cert to UD him wide. Unfortunately Pavlik is not technically sound especially defensively, and is easy to hit, and has been hurt by lesser punchers. He's also quite slow himself. It's a fight both have a great chance to win. Pavlik on points, Abraham by KO.
I think you're being awfully hard on Arthur. He throws some pretty amazing right hands at times, and he is very explosive. I agree that the only way he would beat Pavlik is by KO. Kelly has most of the physical advantages, and would simply have more choices than Arthur. Arthur has been getting a lot of hype since the Miranda rematch, but Edison Miranda damn sure ain't no Kelly Pavlik.
I don't see it. Not early on at least, I think Pavlik would be very wary to commit full power once he takes a few of AA's bursts on his gloves. Miranda was swinging all kinds of crazy **** at his guard and it didn't bother him. Pavlik would have to be really patient and win on points by trying to keep him at range using his activity.
Abraham can be as slow as he wants vs. Pavlik b/c he will blind Kelly with his strobe lights on top of his crown just before the fight starts - that's literally lights out... :deal
Hey Iceland -- People keep making that same prediction, and it could happen, but I don't see this one going the distance. Arthur spends to much time on the ropes and hiding in a corner. If AA could keep the fight in the middle of the ring, he might go 12, but that is not his natural tendency. BHop never came close to getting caught on the ropes, and in the rematch JT stayed off the ropes. However, AA is not in the same class with Hopkins, and he is no where near as fast on his feet as Taylor. Pavlik will keep the pressure on, and Arthur will go to the ropes. At that point the question is this; can AA counter effectively against a guy who has such a huge arm length adavantage? Can Pavlik keep his cool, stay out of range, and finish him? Either AA gets lucky because Pavlik gets careless, or Kelly sparks him. And yes AA has a great chin, but there is a growing list of guys who were never stopped until KP stopped them. I really hope Abraham/Sturm comes to fruition. If that happens, either Arthur or Kelly walks away with all the belts! That would be a huge accomplishment!
You finally need to get rid of PBF and Jones Jr. avatars for some time b/c both are retired now...what about an Abraham one?
Expect it soon, though legends like Mayweather and RJJ will never be forgotten and I'll always bump up avatars of them for certain ******s that don't appreciate them to know how great these guys actually are. And there's no better way than to use myself to do just that. :good Been a fan of Abraham since his 5th professional fight and avatars of him will be there soon.
