That's established though imo, I know if we need to constantly bemoan the fact and talk about how the competition isn't upto scratch, lets just give a guy credit for what he did neutralize his opponent.

Haye is probably a better fighter than he showed, which might speak of the effectiveness of what Wlad was able to make! him do.

You know what it seems to be? That old saying......" dont let the truth get in the way of a good story", its easier to chastise Haye, the guy a lot of people brought into, put their faith in, for coming up short, so lets make the assertion its more about what he DIDN'T do, rather than how good Wlad was.

What people dont seem to realize imo, is that like I said in my other post....

Haye was better defensively, than he was offensively, because Haye had to substitute one, to be effective at the other, he couldn't do both, and that was done Wladimir, not Haye.

Haye's head movement was pretty decent for the most part and I think he rolled with the punches. I don't think he ever really got caught full on flush.

there were 2 instances he got caught with perfect 1-2's, first time he had a look on his face like "wtf i'm still up?" and then started smiling.

Can't say I've been surprised with the knee jerk reactions and vitriol towards Haye, a lot of people bought into the hype of this fight instead of looking at the how fight would likely play out.

Gooners, before the fight you and I discussed about Haye taking away the Wlad's jab and if it would affect his offensive output. I see in this thread you've pretty much summed up how this turned out.

I was actually surprised with how Haye was actually able to stand in front of Wlad and make him miss a lot of jabs with his head movement. Not only that, but I thought that this really did stop Wlad from throwing his right hand. However, as well as Haye did defensively it came at a cost, he was so occupied with his defence that he was never able explode out into his offence.

What we learnt really is that you CAn reduce Wlad's offence by making the jab miss, but even it that's successful he is applying to much pressure for you to capitalise on it.

I few notes from the fight:

- I predicted that Haye would not be able to take Wlad's right hand and would be KOd as the fight went on. I was impressed that he was able to take a few solid shots well.

- I thought that if he really wanted to then Wlad could havbe got the KO last night. He had a man resorting to lunging in with amateurish punches and falling well off balance, but he never looked to capitalise. Whenever haye attacked his only concern was ensuring he stepped back and out of range. He never looked to get in the position to land shots when Haye was coming forward off balance. Steward clearly told Wlad that when he steps back he should do so with a hook to catch Haye coming in.

- I think that Wlad's problem is that he is a two mode fighter.He is either in defensive or offensive mode. His offence consists of pressing forward and pinning his opponent down behind the jab, and when that is landing pop off a right hand take take a half step back out of range. Then when someone attacks, he switches into defence and only focuses on getting out of range. Then when he is out of range he resets and goes into offence. There doesn't seem to be any fluidity or a link between the two.
