Its to do with the weight distribution of the glove. For example Reyes gloves are known as "punchers" gloves due to the majority of the weight being distributed on the wrist and therefore guys who can bang are able to hit harder but may damage their hand. Also someone who couldnt hit well could use Reyes gloves to try and level the playing field or give them a bit of pop in their punches.

Someone with hand trouble may use Grant gloves as the weight is on the front with the padding and so it protects their hands but decreases their punching power.

Numerous other examples but theres a couple.

:dealThis about covers it Ian.You'll see guys like Floyd and Hopkins always prefer Grants for the parrying, whilst guys who like to make every punch count go for Cletos.
Morales likes Winning at this stage because they allegedly take some of the sting out.

Reyes was a young Mexican boy, who one day decided he would try the local Boxing gym. The first time he got hit, he cried and ran home from the gym, he never went back. He began to make gloves, to be worn by men (and now women) who had the courage that he did not.

Its also interesting to see which fighters use which gloves, or if one fighter stipulates they both use the same gloves.

Example, Hopkins typically uses Grant (as he did against Dawson recently) but Dawson was fighting in Everlast.
