A lot of the guys that he has KO'd have a reputation for being hard-chinned. Simon, Geale, Rubio to name a few. Ishida - GGG the only guy to KO him. And Murray was huge, never been stopped, a defensive specialist and Golovkin beat him to pieces.

calling murray a defensive specialist is not really accurate imo, he's just got a standard european style defense and no great speed. He does weigh like 170 in the ring, has a good chin and golovkin did beat the sh11t out of him, but he is no defensive specialist and golovkin didn't land a ko shot.

that fight went pretty much how hagler or monzon would have beat him too imo.

    1) What I meant was that he's pretty hard to dig out of that clamshell defense of his. I didn't mean that he's a bob n weaver.

    2) I agree Hagler etc would likely have done the same to him. If Murray had a punch he'd be pretty dangerous, but he doesn't.

As I said, feel free to point out Golovkin's iron chinned KO victims.

I did not want a large poll, and wanted to compare GGG to the most accomplished middleweights. All of those guys can hit though.

Sugar Ray @155 + took many men the distance!

    Bob Provizzi
    Carmen Basilio
    Paul Pender
    Wilf Greaves
    Randolph Turpin
    Jean Wanes
    Holly Mims
    Bobby ****s
    Billy Brown
    Robert Villemain
    Jean Walzack

Do you really GGG with lighter gloves as Sugar Ray used ( and if needed 15 rounds ) would stop these guys?! Come on.

You need more than an iron chin to last with Glolvkin, McVey. You need abs of steel, a tough rib cage, and heart to stay in the contest when things are not going your way. GGG is murder to the body.

As stated the only three opponents GGG did not stop were early in his career in shorter fights. Everyone else has been stopped. 17 title fights in a row. All of them were stopped. 91%KO ratio and climbing.

    That's unheard of.

    Berlenbach,

I hope you can keep an open mind. I'll list the last ten people GGG fought.

Lemieux - Only stopped twice, I think GGG carried him a bit. Now watch how the KO record becomes very distinguished.

Monroe- Only KO'd once by GGG
Murray - Only KO'd once by GGG
Rubio- GGG KO'd him the fastest
Geale - GGG KO'd him the fastest
Adama - Only KO'd once by GGG
Stevens - GGG KO'd him the fastest
Macklin - GGG KO'd him the fastest
Ishida - Only KO'd by GGG
Stevens - GGG KO'd him the fastest

What else can you say? GGG KO'd men who have not been stopped, and in the cases when they were stopped before, no man KO'd them faster in terms of rounds passed.

It would be nice if someone who voted for Sugar Ray could acknowledge this.

It's very early to compare GGG to any set of champions, let alone the best at the weight ever. He looks great, but until he beats Cotto and/or Canelo (which he probably will) and goes beyond that, he shouldn't be compared to the greats.

Just because he hasn't done it doesn't mean he couldn't do it though.

If Golovkin fought a lot of tough, skilled opponents, the kind of fighters not easily KO'd, and many when well past his prime as well, his KO % would drop too.

Mims was stopped once in 102 fights (on a cut)
Basilio was stopped twice in 79 fights (both times on his feet and he was furious with the referee for stopping it)
Villemain was KO'd once in 63 fights (by Robinson)
Dy kes was KO'd twice in 151 fights

He did KO Turpin and Greaves in rematches.

So he went the distance with Billy Brown and Jean Wanes. Golovkin went the distance with Ian Gardner and Amar Amari. No one can KO everyone.

Because they are many , many other MWs who hit harder than 3G and that would up set your agenda.

What have you got that proves he hits harder than English?

In my book English is a harder hitter.

He went up to Cruiser weight , dropped and gave all sorts of trouble to the certified Iron Chinned Carl Thompson.

David Haye unloaded everything he had on Thompson and couldn't drop him , but English did.

Glovkin's best win is a weighted drained , domestic C Level Murray and it took 3G 11 rounds to stop him on his feet.

You say Glovkin KO'D Rubio the fastest?

He neither KO'd him nor Done it the fastest.

Here you will see him have his lights turned completely out in the first round off one punch by Kofi Jantuah.
