Vera would push him. The guy has seemed to turn his career around since hooking up with Ronnie Sheilds. I think Vera gives Quillin more hell than Rosado did. Personally I hope Quillin proves to be better than alot of these guys who he seems to be ducking (Mora, Lemieux, Macklin, Jacobs, Rosado rematch).
is quillin/vera really being talked about? i hope it doesnt happen.. vera is a game opponent at 160 he was fighting chavez at way to high of weight
I agree. Vera will bring the best out of him, and I wouldn't have a problem with that fight. I'd prefer to see Lemieux land the match, but Vera's legit. I'm a bigger fan of GGG, but I don't like to see fighters eroding because of lax matchmaking. Hopefully Quillin gets back on track- Vera would be a nice start (or, more appropriately, a dangerous test that can make him pay for his mistakes).
Vera vs Quillin is a legit matchup. If Quillin can get past Vera, he can earn some legit props. Especially if he drops him.
I knew Quillin would punk out of this fight. The way Garbriel Rosado, and Lukas Konecny were landing on him wouldn't bode well with a serious power puncher like Lemieux. :toney
Marco Antonio Rubio happened... And then Joachine Alcine happened... Lemieux is a solid night of competition for anyone. But he is nothing special. And he has yet to truly do anything in the ring against any competition which warrants mass praise or respect to the level that he once was viewed as certain to achieve.
Thats why Quillin - Lemeiux should happen. He might be limited, but is still dangerous. Hes like Stevens was to GGG. Expected to be more limited... but still dangerous. Can you keep focus long enough not to get caught wrong, or have the whiskers to hold up if you do when facing a limited guy who can punch a bit? As many punchers become hopes that get exposed by a slick guy they cant hit, at least as many fighters become hopes and prove too fragile to hack the top tier when they face a puncher. Getting by a Stevens or Lemieux would do a lot for Quillins credibility as a top tier fighter.
Rubio - Lemieux happened when Lemieux was 22. Rubio didn't throw anything for the first 6 round. Lemieux went crazy, didn't knock Rubio down and... gassed. His next fight was against Alcine who came in hungry like a contender, coming back in Montreal. Alcine is still a former world champion, a weak one (even weaker than Quillin) but still. Lemieux is now 25 and still have plenty good scrap in front of him, world championship one too.
Looks like Quillin has cold feet. Lemieux is perhaps the livest dog against Top fighter from 160-168, for the first 5 rounds anyway. Put him in with Soliman
Off topic but what about Lemieux vs Curtis Stevens. Good fight for the fans. Ignore this just seen it's already been posted.
Too soon for Lemieux, i first wanna se him avenge his two L's After losing hope in Lemieux i must say that i'm starting to believe in this fella again. Anyone who have watched him for years can tell whether he improved and on what he improved? Because i feel like if he gets his condition fixed and a good trainer he can progress to be a world champion. His Power is a threat to anyone even GGG & Martinez.
