No you are not the only one. Imagine what this thread would be like if we were talking about the present version of Cotto against Hopkins, Taylor, or Pavlik. Bernard, Jermain, and Kelly would all get crucified for even mentioning Cotto.
Cotto winning the lineal middleweight title would be crazy, but I don't see any way he beats Martinez. Even if Martinez doesn't outright KO/TKO him, he'd bloody up his face beyond recognition with the way Cotto cuts.
man cotto is why i love boxing foreal,if cotto takes this fight and wins i will be the happiest person man, dude comes to fight and is exciting and never backs down from anyone, tru throwback fighter,i would love to see him beat margarito 1st then martinez, beating martinez does wonders for his career and stewart will have a gameplan
Im all in for this one and i hope your sources are real. Win draw or loss , it would be a memorable night. i just hope cotto doesn't take a career ending beating but i doubt it. I have faith in him, he has to have a career performance left in him, War Cotto
Cotto has the jab to shut Martinez down, but I don't know if he's big enough to get it off on Martinez.
it should be used to set up that right hand and trap Martinez. Martinez likes to keep his hands low and throw these unorthodox punches from angles, if Cotto can keep Martinez focused on blocking and moving away from that jab, Cotto can neutralize Martinez's offense
Maybe the mission is to go against Stewart. But if the fight does happen, the winner of Cotto/Martinez can face Margo and later the winner of Pac/Foyd. I know there's a lot of wishful thinking here, but a fan's aloud to dream right?
PW doesnt punch as hard as Cotto. Well maybe harder than his right hand but COttos left hook is harder than anything PW throws.
another bull**** catchweight fight fck Martinez for chasing Welterweights trying to take a page off Bernard Hopkins book to get wealth & fame.
It is time for people to re-think their opinions of Sergio Martinez. Here is a little inconvenient truth for his fans. 1) Before Martinez took the rematch with Williams he tried to make a fight with the same version of Shane Mosely that barely managed a draw with Sergio Mora. 2) When Mosely said "no" Martinez tried to make a fight with Angulo. 3) Martinez only agreed to a Williams rematch after HBO told him that was the only fight they would buy. 4) We all knew PDub was a KO in waiting. The shot Sergio caught Paul with would not land on anybody who at least knows how to spell defense. 5) This is not Pavlik's first trip to the Betty Ford Center. The first time he was released from the Betty Ford Center just 10 days before the Martinez fight, but kept right on drinking. 6) If Hopkins, Taylor, or Pavlik had so much as uttered the name of todays version of Miguel Cotto, you guys would have freaking crucified them!
You aren't being particularly fair in comparing Martinez to Hopkins/Taylor/Pavlik as they are all big middleweights. Martinez is a light middleweight and only went up to 160 because the Pavlik fight was there. Having said that, I don't want to see Cotto fight Martinez either. Cotto has no business at 154 but if he fancies it, I can't blame Martinez for taking it. It would be his biggest fight to date and he deserves a pay day. He done things the hard way.
