Hey all now ive been around for a while in amateur boxing but a few bumps in the road to greatness as im at a 0-6 record just so you can get an idea about my experience.

So i spar with a guy who is tall has a longer jab is muscular and pretty good at keeping his hands up and if not his hands up his chin tucked.

so as i experiment with different strategy's for getting around it. im wondering what some of your opinions/methods are for this.

As long as iv'e been around there aren't very many heavyweights for me to spar with in my area so fighting this type of person is a bit foreign to me.

if you hit hard try to get inside and work body-head, watch provodnikov, chakhiev, tyson etc..

if you hit weak, try some lateral movement. get inside with jab, go outside (defensive move, the point is to evade his counter on your jab), and again come back inside with 1-2 combo. watch holyfield or bradley for this one.

also if he hits you only with a jab, try some walking technics, i dont know whats name for this on english. Its similar to running with throwing punches (left leg infront - right hand punch, right leg infront - left hand punch), its purpose is to cut the ring fast, also you can use it after evading his jab, it will confuse the guy - watch darchinyan vs gallo for this one.

    hope this helps!!
