5'9 1/2 jamie mcdonnell at Bantamweight.

Ah nevermind Panama Al Brown was taller.

Actually Mcdonnell fought once at Super fly.

Brown fought at Flyweight up to a significant level.

    Just saying.

In which case, so far as I can tell, he's the tallest Fly, Bantam and Feather in boxing history.

Current Featherweight champion Rafael Espinoza is listed as 6'1. Probably the tallest fighter in Featherweight history.

Would be quite a sight watching him face 5ft 2ins FW contender Nick Ball.

Henry Akinwande was 6'7, which was pretty tall for that time period. I remember seeing the Holyfield-Akinwande commercial as a teen thinking holy **** that guy is huge!

That's weird. I didn't remember Akinwande was ever supposed to fight Holyfield. I wonder why they ended up not. Do you know what year that promo is from?

That was from 98. Akinwande pulled out after testing positive for Hepatitis, and that's when Holyfield fought Vaugn Bean on Showtimes 'free preview weekend' instead.

I thought Kingsley Ikeke was going to be the truth at MW, then Arthur Abraham destroyed him like he was nothing.

Muhammad Ali was a colossus that couldn’t be measured by the tale of the tape. He didn’t even shrink into old age I’d argue he’s still growing now.

I think it’d be interesting to have a seperate thread for guys who fought in the same day weigh in era and we could see how much the tallest guys grew with advanced weight cutting.
