First off, I don't want to start a witch hunt, it's already done and it's time to come to realization that this horrid news topic may just be more common than we originally thought. Going back to the Jack Dempsey vs. Jesse Willard fight, where Jack Dempsey supposedly had loaded gloves, was this a true story? Why was he even accused of it in the first place? To my knowledge, I have not read that there's any proof to bind Dempsey to this hideous crime that is glove tampering, but the whole story makes you wonder. Then we go back a few years to the '80s, where we had the infamous scandal trainer Panama Lewis, who in June of '83 had a fighter named Luis Resto winning a 10 round decision over a bloody, battered undefeated young prospect by the name of Billy Collins Jr. This was on the undercard of the Duran - Moore fight bakc in '83, when Billy Collins corner found out that Restos gloves were remarkably thinner than normal. They had the gloves impounded and found a .75inch hole + missing padding in both gloves. Panama revealed and admitted that he had the handwraps soaked in plaster of paris. Then another incident that makes me wonder (not accusing anybody) when Arum had set the stage between Marco Antonio Barrera and Prince Naseem Hamed, where Hamed had reportedly told Arum he was going to pick "the yellow gloves" and at the day of the ceremony, Hamed changed his mind and went for the green gloves, and Arum literally FLIPPED out and made them get other gloves so that they can chose again. Now I really wonder, was something up with those green gloves? We will never know, but we can always look back and wonder what the hell that was all about. And ofcourse, you are all up to date with the whole Margarito story, yet another fighter of Bob Arum. Now I say to you, glove tampering may be more common than we'd like to think, and it's outright pathetic that things like this can go on in such a brilliant fine sport like boxing. It's time we adress these *******s and put them on the spot. Thank you.

So what do you think? Since the Panama Lewis story was proven and the Margarito story is looking like it will unfold rather bad for the sport.
all i know for sure is that boxing has always been a very corrupt sport with a lot of 'shady' shenanigans. that glove loading occurs more frequently than thought would not be a surprise
I think it's much more common then we could imagine. My reasoning is simple: probability. How could Richardson catch 2 guys doing illegal stuff with the wraps and we never heard of other cases like that? Well it seems he is the only one paying attention to the matter. If one guy can catch 2 fighters doing this in BIG fights the scale of the problem might be ****ing huge.
that naseem hamed thing i dont think it was anything to do with gloves realli. naz was a realli cocky kid and he used to try and get a psychological advantage by making his opponent look bad before a fight. e.g. makeing kelly wait 15 minutes in the ring for him dancing and entering. in this case he was gona make barerra mad by demanding he got the glove choice his way and get the advantage that was. If anything naz was so confident in his power he would not have even thought of doing soming lyk that
Heres a thought since we're going way out with this conspiracy theory thing...What if...just what if Richardson checked margaritos wraps to distract from the fact that Mosley had his hands wrapped illegally with a "plaster-like substance". ..which is why Mosley was able to stun and hurt the usually iron chinned Margarito..ya...think about that..
hope not. dont want to give these hippies that want to ban boxing more ammunition. but probably yeah unfortunately. I hope it gets watched more tightly now regardless of whether margraito is guilty or not, even the possibility of fighters loading their gloves is embarassing for boxing
I was thinking, i have an ameture bout coming up next month, wat if i rub some strong "vix vapur" on my gloves, and wen i punch the other guy he will have trouble seeing. sounds like a good plan to me. hey anything to win eh..........and if i get caught i'll say my noes was blocked and it must've rubbed off
