Loma is just as fast as tank, and has better reaction. I don't see Tank beating Loma or Lopez at 135. He'll beat Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney though. If tank stays at 140 he won't beat Josh Taylor or Regis Prograise either.

Thank you for a sensible post, with all the hyperbole being spewed about who'd kill who the actual fight would be a great encounter. Tank showed me much more than I thought he had and I have to admit I was wrong about him. Everyone knows Loma would outbox him, what we don't know is what happens when Tank connects. I think if he hits Loma solid he'll get the KO. I don't see Loma getting a KO unless it's late over an exhausted Davis.

Yeah, I'd favor Taylor over him at 140, before last night I'd have Loma and Lopez big favorites over Tank now I'm not so sure. I'd still favor Loma but it's closer now. Style wise? Tank and Lopez could be thriller.

Agree, the money is the most important thing, not the fans, or legacy.

Sad, but as you say it's a business.

Tank has never fought anyone with remotely as good boxing skills as Loma. The closest was a shot Gamboa who is nowhere near as good defensively and that was a tough fight for him.

He’ll have a hard time catching Loma clean. I’d pick Loma over any of the 135s right now. Dare I say, he might outclass Tank.

But Tank always has a punchers chance so I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he lays Loma out.

I’d give loma the edge on this one because of that superior boxing skill.

would love to see it play out to see if he can stand up to Tank’s counter punch.

& I’m pissed that it likely never comes to fruition.

I like his chances for sure, he's probably the most explosive boxer in boxing today, and is very talented. Loma has been knocked down a few times(once) and can get overly aggressive, especially when he gets comftorable in the ring which could be a huge mistake against Tank who has great power in both hands. If both sides can somehow make the fight, itd be one of the biggest lightweight fights in the history of the division.

Loma doesn’t run. He moves and gives angles. Does a guy who runs knock out Nakatani the way he did.

who expect Linares had managed to drop Loma for a count? He achieved this only once, so where appeared supposed multiple KDs?

There is a blueprint to beat Loma.

Styles makes fights.Tank’s too economical punch out put has to be higher to beat Loma like Salido.

Or he can use his speed and power and impose it on Loma round after round has to use combinations one or two shots might work on a slower Barrios not on a slippery fighter like Loma.

At this stage i dont see him beating Loma...

We also know his speed, athleticism and ring generalship are legit.

Here's the thing; Loma is never going to fight anybody as skilled as him, because they don't exist. But size and power are the great equalizers of boxing. Teo had both, Tank has both. Yes, Tank is like 5'5, but he's also broad and thickly built.

I genuinely think one of Loma's problems is that he's been built into a boxing super computer by his dad. He's a little too well coached. A little too measured. If he went into every fight with the mindset that he's going to walk you down from the start, and go at his opponent 100%, I think he could stop the majority of his opponents in under 5. But he doesn't. Even in a thoroughly dominating performance like last night, he was extremely measured for large periods of the fight. Too measured. Nakatani was way past overwhelmed. But Loma isn't programmed to go for the throat unless he's fighting someone drastically overmatched like Crolla. He kills his prey by a slow disorientation. Only going for the kill when the only hope his opponent has is survival. Yes, he's always moving forward and applying pressure, but most of that is mental pressure, with his footwork and feints

All of that is a long winded way to say...I believe he could handily beat guys like Tank and Teo if he went against his program and threw for the kill from the start. But he'll never do that. So guys will hang around, and they'll get lots of opportunities to knock Loma's block off. When he hurts them, he'll be mostly measured if he can't knock them down/out within a couple seconds.

I will say, though, until the Teo fight, I always said that if Loma and Tank fought, it would be a calback to the days of guys quitting on their stools from frustration. But we've seen how Loma fights against guys with real power. And it's not THAT Loma. Also, Tank has shown a lot of grit recently. A lot more than I ever thought he was capable of.

yep, it’s such a shame because both will probably go down as ATGs in the future by the time they’re done.

And it’s gonna be one of those what-if fights that never happened. Calzaghe-Ward type.

Here’s the thing though, Loma has reached his maximum potential IMO. Tank is still learning and getting better every fight.
