If this fight actually happens it will be hilarious. It will be man vs. boy. Garcia is starting to believe his own hype. Tank KO 3. Hopefully Loma gets a shot at these two plus Teofimo and Haney before he's even further out of his prime.
Tank is a heck of a fighter on his best day, but I wouldn't bet on this fight at all with his discipline issues. I'm still not sold on what Tank I'm gonna see fight by fight. Garcia is hyped, but he's developing into a legit fighter. Ive come around that maybe he can be the goods and not just a social media teen idol. The longer time the fight takes to happen, the better for Garcia.
If Tank is going to beat Garcia he needs to do it soon. Garcia is going to be a problem for everyone in 3 years.
Garcia and Haney are damn near 6' tall. They'll both be competing at 147 in 2 years. Do you think they can competitive there? I imagine the class will look like this: Manny Pacquiao (final fight) Mikey Garcia Ryan Garcia Devin Haney Vergil Ortiz Luke Campbell Teofimo Lopez
Not only do I think they'll be competitive but I think they could end up being the best of this young crop of talent and thats saying a lot. That list is filled with a lot of talent.
Zab Judah is my guy but Tank reminds me of him, exceptional talent poor discipline. Tank aint no Tank, once he faces a real 'Tank' who is disciplined and can box and punch he is done.
I feel like Garcia is more fragile than tank. I use that term loosely because obviously professional fighters aren't fragile compared to average people. I may totally eat my words, but I just can't see him taking what tank dishes out. It's probably because he looks like a kid still so I realize I'm stereotyping here a bit.
Not downing your comment, I respect it. That being said I heard the same thing said about De La Hoya and I heard the same was said about Leonard. Those two turned out to be real dogs when put to the test.
You're totally right, I remember hearing that was the perception of de la hoya at the time, and that guy has one of the best chins I've ever seen. I know i'm totally relying on unfair stereotypes here. I really hope i'm wrong and Garcia has a chin comparable to either Oscar or SRL and beats the **** out of Tank.
I really wouldn't worry much about Tank tbh. I could be wrong obviously but he simply doesnt look like the goods to me. Hes a strong talented fighter but not a high level skill fighter who's pretty small. Add to this what seems to be questionable focus outside the ring and the future is questionable imho. This stuff is the kiss of death against bigger skilled fighters. I think once he starts fighting top guys he'll start taking Ls.
