Unless the A-side is a fighter with a huge fanbase, such as Alvarez or Golovkin, both fighters need to be A-side types to make a PPV successful. Cruz was a definite B-side. Just to be clear, I am not talking about talent, I am talking about popularity.
This is so true. You dont market yourself like that. Look at how Sugar Ray was back in the day, so nice and always smiling. He would get TONS of endorsments.
Wait, people aren’t lining up to watch Tank fight an unknown no hope opponent? Say it ain’t so! After that controversial close fight, look for another older or smaller guy moving up to pad Tanks record. Business as usual. I can’t imagine people are dumb enough to pay to watch this garbage but never underestimate the stupidity of Tank fans.
PPV is outdated but idk how boxing can survive without it. They need to either start stacking these PPV cards all the way or drop the price by a lot.
This isn't surprising, it wasn't a PPV attraction or event. I say that as one of the few Tank supporters on the site. There is not one fight that Tank could possibly fight that I think would be deserving of a PPV headline.
The head of Showtime Sports, in response to a fan saying the PPV sold less than 100k, said: “Lol. It did almost that much in digital PPV buys alone."
You're telling me a fight nobody wanted in the first place didn't get many PPV buys? I'm shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you!
