Tarver isn't just some unheard of sparring partner. If you want a former world champion to spar with you're going to have to pay him well, how many former world champions do you think would just settle being a sparring partner for a up and coming fighter?

If someone like Parker of AJ asked David Haye to be their sparring partner do you think he'd just ask for peanuts. Fighters who have had success on the level of someone like Tarver isn't going to have that low level mentality and settle for usual sparring partner wages, they are used to being paid well and getting their own way, so it's not surprising at all Tarver wants to be paid well for sparring. It maybe delusional but if you wanted cheap sparring don't ask a former world champion who has made millions, they ain't going to be cheap.

Surprise, surprise, Tarver denies it all on twitter. Said Usyk people "begged him" to be his sparring partner, but he had to decline because he is on course to return on Jacobs vs Mora undercard. Let's wait and see if he will really make his comeback on that date... I really doubt that.

Doesn't matter if they are broke or not. It's that champions mentality, they are used to being paid and treated a certain way, they would see anything less than what they think they are worth as an insult and not worth their time. It's why so many champions end up broke they can't down scale their lifestyle once the money no longer rolls in like it used to.

Logically he should take what he can get but people are rarely that rational in the real world.

There's a difference between paying a former big name well, and paying him a fortune and get the demand of being the co main event on the guy's card.

Buboy is the only deformity that weighs as much as a CW that I know of. Maybe he can spar Usyk.

Not when you're deluded like Tarver is. To him it's totally rational, while to us it's insane. But we've not experienced what he has experienced and had the highs he's had.

Whatever he was offered would likely seem a fortune to most people but he isn't most people, he's made millions for a nights work, his perspective is far different from the average Joe's.

Tarver seems more "famous broke" than "real life" broke. He has the announcing gig and seems to live a pretty charmed life based on his social media presence. The smart thing for him at this point is go all in on commentating. There's no age limit to that and he's easily in the discussion for best fighter-commentator. He shouldn't end up a total tragedy.

    How much did he request?

    The co-main slot isn't delusional.

Tarver is even today a bigger name globally than Usyk.

Exactly. Plus Tarver has what I call "ring smarts" and is about as savvy a professional as they come. Usyk could add a lot of tricks of the trade to his ****nal. It's not like Usyk has seen it all.
