Benn was what we all love about boxing! Dynamite in both hands and guns blazing!

Michael Nunn lost to Steve Little on a co main event card with Nigel Benn who beat Henry Wharton the same night.

A big fight with Benn/Nunn was being set up if both men won their fights that night but Nunn got upset by Little hence ruining the potential showdown.

So maybe get your facts straight.

As for your other nonsense comparing Whyte to Benn I'm not even going to bother anyone with common sense can see that comment is a complete joke.

True. I know he fought a bit in America for a short time but not sure if he had much of a following there.

He was huge in the UK though and the UK are some of the most passionate followers of the sport so hes still a big name. I’m Australian and followed his career because he was exciting to watch.

He was known in America after the wins over DeWitt and Barkley especially the Barkley one.

And the McClellan fight which was on Showtime definitely made him a name in America. Especially with how brutal and memorable the fight was for good and bad reasons.

Nunn was past prime by that stage and losing to mediocre opponents. Had they fought circa 1990 Nunn would have been heavily favored to beat Benn.

Benn conveniently missed out on loads of dangerous opponents who would have been favored to beat him. Nunn, Jones, McCallum, Hearns, Reggie Johnson, etc

Obviously if he fought all those guys he would have many additional losses and would be perceived much less favorably by British fans.

    Absolutely.
So glad Benn's in there, one of my personal favourites.

Benn deserved to be in there.
He was no one hit wonder.
He had a good reign at SM and took out one of the most dangerous guys at that weight.

How can you have a quality reign without ever being the best in a weight class? That's supposed to be the point of being a reigning champion.

Loads of great champs didn't fight the best in the division s.
Especially the modern era with some many belts.
But Benn held the WBC title and defended it against the guys listed in that body's rankings.
I've a ton of respect for the guy.
Most were avoiding the G-man,he took the fight.
