"The Daily Telegraph can reveal the fighter dubbed "Magic Man" - who played Mason "The Line" Dixon in Rocky Balboa - has reopened talks to fight for Green's IBO cruiserweight world title as early as July."

If this fight came off i would put everything on Tarver to win a decision... he still had enough speed and pop to be competitive with Dawson twice and i think he would handily outbox Danny to be honest.

promising news.Dannys career is much more enjoyable when you know who isnt on his mind.more than credible opponent and a win especially a dominant one may rekindle OS interest in him.handing Tarver his first KO loss is his only chance IMO.hope this fight gets made.

A passing remark doesn't equal a 'done' deal, but it does sound promising though.

Hard to question Green is, and has been out there trying to land big fights.

agree with what you say i dont think Danny has the skill to win against skilled boxers over 12 rounds.Sullivan, the Mexican,ok maybe Drews could be classified as skilled but appeared very reluctant to do anything in their fight.Mundine and Beyer both beat him handily over 12 rounds.since moving up from SMW hes won every fight bar Drews by KO.Hopefully Tarver gets stunned early and Danny can hand him his first KO loss.
disagree about Dawson-Tarver II being competitive.

Stunning 'em early is certainly the key to Greens fortunes from here in IMO.

Reckon he hurt Drews sufficiently early and it's why Drews shied away from then on. Obviously he also stunned, and stopped RJJ very early.

It's what he needs to do in Mundine II when it comes about as well.

Actually, remember what Thomas hauser wrote about Dawson-Tarver I?

'The crowd was 911 people...a true emergency number!'
