Tarver exercises rematch clause against Dawson. Why?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by dudemcdudeson, Oct 24, 2008.

  1. This prevents Dawson from scoring a bigger fight. Tarver definitely poses a threat in the rematch. It's an ugly situation for Dawson.

I think Dawson beat Tarver convincingly enough that no rematch is warranted.

  3. It's like Pavlik asking for a rematch against Hopkins

True. Dawson will win again, and he knows it.

dawson had no choice in the matter.

he was not ranked i suspect for the tarver fight and so as a voluntary defense tarver could get a rematrch clause in there.

tarver has nowhere really to go at his age, the small crowd at vegas shows he is not a draw in himself so a rematch with dawson makes most finacial sense for him.

NOT that i see him doing any differently.
he was to slow of both hand and foot to cause dawson to many problems in the first fight and he is a fighter who is not willing to win at all costs , whicyh is what it would take in the second fight to hope he lands something big, but it would involve tarver leaving himself exposed.

onoy time he did it in the first fight was in round 12 and he paid for his mistakes by getting stunned by dawson.

I love it when fighters drop the stupid belts and just go for the fights we want to see.

Nobody wants to see Dawson - Tarver II except Antonio.

Chad just needs to drop the belts unless no other fights can be made at this point.

Bad Chad schools him again in part II.

Why would Tarver do this, other than financial reasons? He has very little chance against Dawson, and age is not on his side.. For Dawson it's easy money, but also a waste of time.
