Is this a rematch clause that has to take place or does it become null and void if Chad vacates the IBF? Because if by dropping it, he can get out of this fight, then he should. If he elects not to, then he deserves quite a bit of critcism that will surely come his way.

Dawson should vacate and move on to bigger and better things.

Be very cool if he fought Erdei. Not gonna happen, I don't think, but nonetheless, very interesting fight.

If it is part of the contract than Tarver no matter how badly he lost has evry right to invoke the clause. Fo I think the result will be diffrent? No. Are there better fights for Dawson? Yes.

Why not? At this age and with Tarver's ego there wasn't much question that he would want to get some "GET BACK". The question is can he beat Bad Chad. I don't think so but who knows. The preformance Chad put on Tarver was GREAT! But I'm gonna give Tarver credit and say he didn't have his best night. At 40 "Best nights" are going to be far and few inbetween..

Pointless fight, although I think Tarver knows its his last chance at making a decent payday. Dawson dominates this one too and possibly stops Tarver this time.

Tarver has nowhere to go, he wants another good payday and really he has nothing to lose. Worst thing that can happen to him is losing again (ok he might get knocked out, but that chance is slim). Also I wouldn't completely count him out in the rematch, I mean of course I favour Dawson but you never know... exercising the rematch clause was the logic thing to do for Tarver.

But for boxing this rematch is totally worthless. Why can't Glen Johnson get a rematch?

Tavoris Cloud. I haven't seen enough to form an educated opinion. But what I will say, we all have to accept the fact that boxers are fighting longer, mainly because of knowledge about conditioning, but mainly money. Floyd Mayweather was calling De La Hoya out when he was 19. HBO wouldn't make the fight. Mayweather had the resume etc... We now know whatever you think of their fight recently that he was technically ready. This is the point on T-Cloud. Is he truly technically ready to fight WORLD-CLASS competition? Maybe.
But I did see the Roy Jones-Anthony Hanshaw fight and for the first 6-7 rounds, the youth and aggression of Hanshaw was beating Roy from pillar to post. But then experience and skill stepped in and well we saw what happened there. Roy to his credit took the chance and fought an up and coming fighter in order to get back on the big stage. Will Tarver do this and fight T-Cloud? It makes sense being they are both from Florida. I don't think so, Tarver makes to many bone-headed career moves to do something so easy. It would be easy and T-Cloud would give up most of the purse for the shot. But Tarver takes no such chances. Hopefull fighters like T-Cloud will get the chance to fight on the big stage. He definitely has the talent. But will he have the skill to beat Tarver? Now I am no Tarver fan, but I did recognize long before he and Roy got it on that he had the skill to beat Roy. I don't necessarily see that with T-Cloud. Not saying he doesn't have it, but to me it's not apparent. As for the rematch, it makes sense to both guys, Tarver can adjust. He's shown it in previous fights. Besides, the public deserves the old-school game of fighting where you have to beat the champ and if he wants some more, do it again before moving on to just paydays. The cherry-picking we've fallen into creates false "legends" like Calzaghe, Lewis, and Cotto. Hell, even the legend we call Tyson was exposed when he fought the best modern heavyweight in Holyfield. T-Cloud - Dawson will happen before any of the name guys give him a chance. Dawson should fight Tarver again and win even more impressive. Then the winner of the Calzaghe-Jones fight has to be called to the mat about Dawson.

I'm not sure if Cloud is ''technically ready'' but he can take Tarver maybe, the guy is shot bad.Cloud didn't look technically ready with Gonzalez who was shot himself

Because he can make a last decent payday before calling it a day. Tarver poses a very small threat indeed. I thought he had a 5% chance the first time around. Now, I think it's about 3% - as much as anyone with B- power or less would have, I think. Dawson will take it because otherwise, he's going to have to pay Tarver off. Also, with Hopkins not interested in fighting Dawson...whom is Dawson going to fight? Better a certain win against Tarver than a small chance of losing to his mandatory, unknown and very unproven puncher Cloud, for example, right?

It has nothing to do with belts. It was in the contract; if he doesn't fight Tarver again, he's in breach and would owe Tarver quite a bit of money....

I wouldn't mind seeing him face Erdei but like you said it won't happen. Dawson is really out of options here so he might opt for the rematch.

Can you blame Tarver? who knows he may do better. We all thought Lovemore was stupid for exercising his clause against Paulie, and the second fight was far closer. Anything can happen, plus the pay won't be that bad.
