Yes, I think he's a waste of talent, and it goes beyond DM.

Roy made a career out of choosing the path of least resistance, and in doing so, he cheated himself, the fans, and the sport.

It's very easy to say that. But he also has a few nice signature wins as well. Beating Bhop and Toney. Sure there are a few other fights he could have taken at 168 but he already beat the guy considered to be the very best at that weight and he beat him very easily. I think you could add the Ruiz win as well considering he started at 160.

Your in the minority here ..DM would have done nothing for his legacy nada !

His path of least resistant was paved with Hopkins Toney cleaning out divisions and capturing a HW title ..Yup that qualifies as a "Waste of Talent " !:patsch

That's one of the forgotten aspects of that fight. RJJ punished Tarver to the body, which was one of the main reasons Tarver couldn't get an obviously diminished (compared to previous fights) RJJ out of there.

If he cheated the fans and the sport he would never be held in such high regard ..His wins over the carefully chosen oppoenents like the enmost of the lt heavy weight division and hopkins and toney sure make him one of boxing's best cherry pickers don't it ?

That's funny Dipper/BRAWLER when you discuss Jones vs Tarver on other threads you claim Tarver DOMINATED all 3 fights yet you have him winning the first fight by a close decision....hmmm.

I think the people have spoken on this one.NO WAY IN HELL DID TARVER WIN THE FIRST ONE.I think the only reason some people claim Tarver won is because it was the first time Roy looked lathargic, slow, vulnerable and beatable but he still didnt lose.

    DIPPER_--

Did you chicken out and realize that Jones did indeed win this fight and decide NOT to post your round by round card?

Before the board crashed last time, your excuse was that you didn't have a copy of the fight to watch again and post your score card------

    WHATS YOUR EXCUSE NOW??????
