Tarver vs Jones III: What a horrible perfomance by Roy

    He was clearly feeling the effects of losing that much weight in the first fight. Stamina seemed much less of an issue in the third.

    Sure, his legs and stamina weren't quite what they had been, but it's not like he badly exterts himself in the third. He could have been much busier, but he went for safety first. In such a fight you want to see a champion put it all on the table, go for broke instead of letting the fight slip away. No one can seriously claim he did this.

    Tarver would have always been a bad style matchup for Jones Jr. Tarver is tall as hell, he looks much taller in real life than he's listed at, and hes a counterpuncher that doesnt like to lead. This type of fighter would always trouble Jones, just as Montell Griffin did. That being said, Jones was so gun shy from getting knocked out, he never recovered from that fight against any opponent. His skills were certainly in decline, but when a speed fighter is hesitant to make his moves, hes finished.
