Tarver really should go for broke and fight Steve Cunningham or Marco Huck at this point. A win against either guy puts him back into that conversation for the Hall of Fame, and wins over both move him from a long shot to a 50-50 shot if not better.

If Tarver seriously hunts this guy down just to prove a point, then he is a moron. I'm not some bitter RJJ fan (note the profile pic), but he will NEVER have a better legacy than RJJ, period. Maybe a better fighter head-to-head but it's a lost cause. This Lebedev dude seems like a legit fighter though. If Tarver were to beat him, then yes I would be impressed, but end this fued with RJJ. Nobody cares anymore.

Chill out. Nobody thinks a win over Lebedev proves Tarver has the greater overall legacy than Jones...not even Tarver.

It would just show that Tarver is a genuine force at cruiserweight - and that has nothing to do with Lebedev having beaten Jones, really. It's more about the fact that Lebedev is among the very best in a somewhat shallow but still halfway decent division.

I'll probably catch hell for this, but i honestly think the russian held
back on RJJ. He finished at the end but didn't step in the gas early
like he could've and did to macca and alexeev and it was quite apparent.
While i like tarver if they meet, I could envision his well placed right hand
on the beard of tarver as he comes in with the left. His right is short
and sees it thrown in the counter. Leb would be very live in this fight.

I don't think however, tarver would beat Huck. Team sauerland has
a money guy in marco with a world title and a huge emphatic fanbase.
Tarver's got no draw in the states to make Huck leave germany. Germany
would pay tarver handsomely, more than Oz paid him, to come to
deutschland. Huck is SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTRONG as ****, so strong
it makes up for his lack of skills. Tarver hates a pressure fighter that
mauls him, and he'd have a 220 lb cruiser tackling him and hitting him
with heavyweight rights to the shoulders, arms, neck, head, and ribcage
for more rounds than his old body would like. If tarver carries on for 12
with huck, he'll not have enough to show for those 12 rounds to earn
a decision in germany, or anywhere else for that matter.

And finally, i don't see him getting a nod over cunningham. USS would be
up for tarver and it would be in the USA instead of germany, so USS
we be on point and be too rangy and efffective to lose to tarver
    on the night.

One thing is for sure, tarver can't stay home and make money if
he wants to win AND make money. He'll have to choose.

I'm not saying anyone does, but Tarver may. He wants to prove that he is better than RJJ in every way. Probably a big portion in him fighting Green. It's annoying.

Tarver needs to fight Dawson, Haye, Vitali and Vlad, perhaps Arreola next?

Lebedev is an even worse boxer than Green. I think Tarver KO's Lebedev.

I think people always underrated Tarver. It's always been the case that Tarver had skills, but like a Rigondeux he got into boxing at almost age 30. So he hasn't built the resume to match his actual skill level.

I think if he boxed all the way through he'd be as accomplished as a James Toney or Bernard Hopkins mainly because he's just got a really awkward difficult style, strong chin, very elusive defensive slick. I could see him beating most guys like Pavlik, Bute, Froch, if they fought, but I could see him losing to some guys too like Dawson, Ward, Dirrell. Actually with Dirrell it would be a close decision.

Tarver should be able to clean up the cruiserweight division as most people will have great difficult beating him on points and no one has managed to knock him out yet even up to heavyweight.
