It always makes me laugh when these people pick who they actually want to win, which would be the Tarver who destroyed Jones v a Toney who spent more time in Burger King than in the gym.:lol:

Would be an interesting fight. Either Tarver out works Toney or Toney uses Tarver's high workrate against him and chops him up with counters. Maybe the meet in the middle and it makes for a great fight like Toney vs McCallum? I'm about 50/50 on this one but if I had to pick I gotta go with Toney... Toney always seemed to be able to deal with guys who had a high workrate and I think he'd be prepared for Tarver.

Toney at light heavy didn't really have his head in the game. He was at his worst, out of shape, lazy, with losses to Griffin and Thadzi. This wasn't Toney at his best.

The best version of Tarver at light heavy vs the best version of Toney at light heavy wins a close fight. Though Tarver could be inconsistent himself, he had a habit of doing enough to lose as in the first fights with RJJ and Johnson.

In terms of style, Toney will struggle with the tight defence and counter punching style of Tarver like he did with Griffin. Tarver though was pretty static, he didn't move much so Toney wouldn't have any difficulty chasing him down like he did with RJJ and Nunn. I think it would always be close because of their clash of styles, neither liked to lead and we'd end up with a cagey fight.

Tarver hardly had a high work rate. He picked his spots.

    Tarver deserved both Johnson fights.

    Tarver by decision

It was his natural weight, he was strong, had good foot movement, reach, and decent punching power. He would look to keep the fight in ring center and wouldn't make the mistake of getting countered by Toney on the ropes.
