I would be more interested in seeing Tarver in the ring with Wlad than Mormeck, but as mentioned both would make for pretty bad opposition for Wlad.

Ffs, Mormeck was recently in talks for what was universally pegged as a pick'em with Hasim Rahman. (some even tipped Rahman as a slight fave!)

id prefer Tarver over Mormeck but that's not available why not attempt to unify at CW, im positive Showtime would buy a Tarver-Cunningham, and a unified CW champ would be a better fight vs Wlad to sell

Both fights would be some of the worst title challengers in history IMO. It would be like man vs boy in either fight (even though the 'boys' are middle aged). Neither tarver and esp mormeck have the footspeed or reflexes to compensate for the laughable disparity in size and power. Don't give me that Wlad's due a mando and 6 of the "top 10" are busy, cuz Wlad hasn't had a stiff test since like 2007 and I'd wager that if the Klit's increased the amount they're paying they could get 1 of these top 10 bums to fight em. Plus, I'd rather they cull some hw from the lower ranks who might at least possess a punchers chance

Tarver would be a better opponent than Mormeck. He has more left, is better than Mormeck, and has a bigger name. I'm not big on a Wlad-Tarver match up but it is better than Wlad-Mormeck. In all honesty I don't see why Wlad doesn't beat one up in November than the other in December before getting down to serious business next year.

Tarver would be better. Mormeck is so short, if he crouches low and is totally defensive, it could be a really boring fight, like Wlad - Iggy. If opponents are too short and don't come to fight, Wlad has a hard time finding his target. Tarver would be a fine KO.

    Unify at CW?

Tarver is not a CW champion. The IBO doesn't count. :rofl

Tarver is not good enough to beat one of the current CW champions.

Especially a guy like Cunningham, who Tarver straight up ducked after USS called him out. :good

    Arreola has said many times.....
"a fight with Wladimir would be spring of 2012 at the earliest"

Unless he's having injury trouble I don't know about, I think this is a big mistake. He's as good as he's going to be later, he's recently gone ten good rounds, no rust going, a streak of wins...He might very well miss his biggest opportunity here. :-( Dammit, Chris...

This is an interesting post. Not altogether TRUE, but interesting.
Obviously Mormeck and Tarver would not be the WORST challengers in history. I have named 10 worse challengers since the early 90s alone, and I've found probably a little more than 200 altogether that either Mormeck or Tarver, even at this age and ability would dominate. But, exaggeration aside, the above post is still interesting.
2ironmt is right that neither have the abilty to compensate for the size disparity, and IMO neither would handle the Steel Hammer for more than few rounds.
As for the top 10 guys, in which ABC are we talking....or are we talking "Ring", boxrec, which? Top names like Chambers or Thompson would jump straight away into the ring right now for another shot at glory, but the sanctioning bodies won't allow it, unless one pay's the other, step aside money. I'm sure Wlad would rather rematch either of those guys, but there is that LEGALITY holding them back.
Others like Arreola, Dimitrenko, Helenius are all seeking other avenues as well. Fury is a superhypejob, and was nearly overexposed against american Cclass fighter Nicky Firtha. We all saw it coming too, but the ref obviously wasn't allowed to let that happen, and Firtha's mgmt just doesnt have the money to buy fights like that. But that aside, those guys DONT want a K2, and will patiently await a weakness or a retirement. Weakness being Sasha, the weakest(fakest) titlist. I'm almost sure that's why Arreola has refused the Dec fight. He thinks that he might get Sasha after Holyfield, so why chance that by being KTFO against Wlad.

I really, really like where 2ironmt is going with that lower ranked punchers chance kind of fighter. Guys like Rodriguez, Wach, Welliver, Monsour, and Mitchell would ALL put up a better fight than either Mormeck or Tarver, and with the exception of Welliver, all have the KO power to put Wlad on Sanders Parkway. ***** St sotosay:lol:
Welliver however has the best overall boxing ability, and has the ability and unshakable chin to "possibly" steal some rounds vs Wlad. His power is underrated, and he has an uncanny ability to roll and punch. Kinda like Tyson used to do, but w/o the dramatic power. His appearance makes him look almost outta shape, but once he steps through them ropes, he's a ****ing punching machine. Throwing 100 punches a round sometimes, kinda like Arreola at times, but with far tighter, shorter, and more powerful shots.

The idea of a K2 sinking to that level sounds almost absurd, but it really is a ****ing duckfest going on in the HW scene these days, as guys like Monsour, wach, welli, Mitchell, and Rodriguez are trying their damnedest to get bigger fights, but realistically those inside the top 20 know that if they fight them, they're risking their 2 mil payday with a K2, and the 50K that Welliver can deliver, or the 30K rodriguez can guarantee aint worth the 5 spot drop in the rankings, while watching el Nino or whoever rise from 55 or 77 to 10 after they knock you the **** out and send you away with 20K for your troubles.:deal

Read my post below yours. Arreola is awaiting the outcome of Holyfield/Potvetkin and lining himself up for a shot at the winner.

    Do the math.

Holy/Sasha Dec 2011. By mid Jan 2012 the winner will be looking for their spring challenger. That's where Nipples gets his shot at glory.

An Arreola vs Holyfield or Arreola vs Potvetkin would suit him just as well as a bigger payday vs Wlad and being KTFO in the process.:deal
