tarver may have been an above average fighter but he sure is a fantastic commentator unlike those ass licking clowns from hbo......
:huh Bernstein's the best there is at his job. And by a good margin. Tarver was great last night too. Showtime have a better team than HBO.
The best color commentators in the game, it's too bad that Gus Johnson brings down the telecast by 1000%. The twitter thing is ******ed too.
I consider Bernstein more an expert analyst than a color commentator. :think Usually in a three man team calling sports there's the straight man/play-by-play guy (who emcees the proceedings and does the bulk of talking), the color commentator (usually a recently retired player, there to add humor and personality and an "inside" perspective), and an expert analyst (usually older than the other two, either a retired coach or a longtime media guy covering the sport who's amassed lots and lots of knowledge). Sometimes you have two man teams where the the color commentator and expert analyst position are sort of rolled into one. For instance, HBO WCB has had: PxP - Lampley/Tompkins Expert analyst - Kellerman/Merchant Color commentary - Steward/Jones/Foreman/Leonard If we're hanging them under the same label and just calling them both color commentators, then definitely Bernstein above Tarver.
I think youre seeing from a negative perspective, because they called that fight great. When the rounds were great they were at the edge of their seat like all of us, calling it the great round that it was.
oh waaaay off Bernstein is one of the best out there, about five thousand times the broadcaster that Tarver and that other scrub will ever be. That Gus Johnson brings good cheerleader enthusiasm but a bit of a cornball and very low boxing IQ, too low, IMO, to be doing what he does. Tarver is good but Bernstein is head and shoulders above them both. If anything, he holds his opinions back to much for my tastes.
Ya know why Lopez's boxing took a step backwards? Cause he knew the man in front of him can destroy him at any moment if he's not super careful... After awhile, that plan didn't work, so in the 8th & 9th, he went toe to toe with Salido & guess what happened??? :yep
Tarver is the best colour commentator in baaxin. Unlike that glass jawed fraud roid Jones he doesn't need to pull rank to make his point and explains his opinions.
Desipte being critical of the crew last night I do think Tarver is the best expert colour commentator in boxing. Emmanuel Steward with his years and years in the game is very good too.
Tarver does do a pretty good job. About as good as one could expect. In also kind of like that British duo. Al Smith and jJm Watt, I think? I catch them on youtube when I rewatch fights. They are fairly entertaining, although the one usually says a bunch of stupid **** about the Klitschko's.
