Thats why boxing in this country is so farked up!

Yet the NSW goverment paid 3 million for IBO title fight between Green and RJJ just to ensure it took place in their state. The Politics of boxing dont just start and end with the sharks, dodgy matchmakers and fighters with padded records, it appears the goverment is also involved.

Its sad when a world champ needs to ask for 500k to put on a show in his own backyard. Whos his opponent and why is the sum so large?

boxing promotion is a tough business. The IBF belt has not changed things a whole bunch in terms of promoting his own fights in Australia.

Geale should be the co-attraction on the Green-Tarver card. Pay his opponent, work a deal with Green Machine boxing, start to be a little more interesting in the media rather than this everyday bloke, then he can move from there.

It's a shame that people get behind the pretenders of boxing (green/mundine) and don't support the real champions of the sport like Daniel geale and the grange who's best interest is the boxers and boxing. No wonder boxing is going backwards.

you don't need anything from governments if you get a good opponent, The PPV numbers will get the job done.

There's one guy in the IBF top 15 that would draw very impressive PPV numbers and that's Mundine. The money the contenders want to fight for the title isn't to be sneezed at.

    Second the motion :deal

However, I do stand 100% by my earlier comments, Daniel Geale can't , nor ever will be a draw in Australia - gate or PPV and his main revenue streams are in Europe, confined mainly to Germany where there are 3-4 massive fights/purse there for him in my opinion.

If they are desperate for a home fight, Mandy it has to be, simple as.

Geale is nothing without The Man. Talk about playing hard to get after his win in Germany. His up the creek without a paddle.

Why should the Government be expected to pay for this?
Boxing, like every sport comes down to dollars and cents, and given Tasmania has run a few Mma events at our biggest indoor sporting venue with success, why can't Geale's camp?

I'm a boxing fan, as well as being a Tasmanian businessman, Id be happy to sponsor this event to the tune of at least $10,000 and infact would happily provide Geale $5000 for any fight in Australia.
As much as I support the guy as a fan, his team aren't working hard enough to make this happen, my businesses as well as many others are probably keen to get involved, they just need to be contacted by his team with a plan

If anyone knows anyone in Geale's camp, tell them to getvtheir act together.
Their whinging is pathetic, I've approached them twice in the past to start talks about sponsorship through his site, and my attempts at contact have never been acknowledged.

Even a "thanks but not thanks" would be appreciated, as it's some kind of response.
It's hard to sit back and accept the complaining when one wonders how many potential deals have been lost thanks to their inactivity
