Cold hard facts are , govt give them 500 grand , they pay there opponent they pay the bills they pay Daniel his wage .

The 500 grand covers everything , then they sell tickets sell a few ppv and keep that money , good result for Daniel , but what does the Tassie govt get out of it Zilch . simply because your not going to get thousands crossing the Tasman and booking up hotels , spending big in Tassie , maybee a few hundred but not thousands , .

So what do you expect them to do give money away , why don't they just give Daniel 100 grand and tell him not to bother , go have a holiday instead. Daniel is a boring fighter to the masses Sad but True

There l;ies the problem , its a lot of money for the govt to fork out just to get Maybee , and only Maybee a couple of hundred people to bring there tourist dollar , they would be better of spending 100 grand on airline tickets and casino accomadation , and giving them away , they would get a better return .

Sorry people but its not the govt's job or buisness to stage sporting events which willl cost the tax payers for no return

You cannot compare it to other states doing it with Green and Choc because they generate the return , with people actually paying to see it flying or driving in , booking hotels ect,, A ll sad but true.

If you was asking the govt to sponsor the ameteur titles , i would agree because Geale was a decorated ameteur representing his country but this is PROFESIONAL he does it for money , WHO'S GOING TO GET THE PROFITS not the govt thats for sure ,

Hey Trumpy, what your saying is all good and well but your living in a fantasy land, the goverment has and does pay for world title fights to be put on in their state. Why is Geale any diffrent? because he is legit and not some circus act who made a name chasing Mundines tail?

Why doesnt Geale get the same respect with the media etc that Green gets? coverage wise etc, its not all black and white you know, there are more people responsible and more people to point the finger at than just GRANGE.

The sponsor issue, its a nutshell one, same sht happen with Kostya Tszyu, these websites are setup and no one manages them, i recall signing upto the KT fan site yrs and yrs ago before he even won titles, sent in Money etc never recieved a thing, not even a thank you or acknowledgment, did i blame KT? nope, he didnt make the site, he didnt manage it, its not his job to. Geale has done what no Australian has ever done before. He should be paid his dues, i dont agree with the sum but then again i also dont agree with NSW goverment giving over 3 million of our tax payers money to have RJJ fight one round against Danny Green, two washed up fighters fighting each other, WTF. They have all but ruin boxing in this country, Vic Darchinian cant fight here, he cant get the money, yet we had someone like Kostya Tszyu who could. So you see the game has somewhat changed, we have no Bill Mordey of boxing anymore and its all been left to the media, Green and Mundine are the flavour and have been for yrs, its not going to change until the mainstream public wakes the fck up and starts watching boxing again and ignores all these circus acts that have been put on by Green and Mundine.

 

geale has to sell PPV, it is as simple as that. Why should the government put money up, he can go back to germany and make a million or he can fight Martinez and get well payed as well. geale make the mundine fight and he will make millions. 50/50 and he will make 2 million happy days and the mundine apple cart is over and geale becomes a nation hero.

 

the way I look at it is the tassie government looks at this proposal weighs up the pros and cons and then makes a decision on a commercial basis, they just felt the outlay did not make sense econmically, whether it is right or wrong i dont know but I am sure that they are not huge boxing supporters and are doing it because they dont like Daniel, the media reports what the public want, if a show rates it continues and gets bigger and the people get more money for the show . The show doesn't rate it gets axed and the people are out of work, if people buy papers or view websites when someone is reported on then they continue reporting if not then they stop. The media reats to the public so I dont think the media corrupted they are just giving the public what they want. If no one bought the womans weekly with a celeb on the front no one would take there picture. It is because everyone buys the mag when kate and will are on the cover that there picture becomes worth something and everyone wants to take there photo
