Oh man...could it be finally time for a bump? https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...n-the-business-cumulonimbus-supercell.198566/
Yeesh, I'm just going to assume this has to do with money. I still remember in the lead up to the Hopkins fight Cloud seemed completely dispirited over the direction of his career (working with Don King will do that to you). Then he quit against Cloud and got buried by Beterbiev. I can't imagine any of that increased his love for the sport. I don't mean any disrespect against Cloud, but I think I'll probably always remember him as the beneficiary of that outrageous decision against Campillo. For me, Cloud vs. Campillo is at or near the top of the list for worst robberies ever, alongside Rios vs. Abril & RJJ at the Olympics.
This. Cloud beat the living **** out of him, yet the judges saw otherwise. Ruined Campillos career(Kovalev did it, but I doubt they would have fought if Campillo had been a champ). And I don't get how the IBF didn't intervene. Plenty of times have they stepped in if a fight ends controversially. Maybe Don worked his magic?
We don't need Cloud, but he's allowed to make a living of course. I've adressed the Campillo situation multiple times, as he couldn't close the show and being from the "wrong" country, he was a prime candidate to rob blind. He actually should have been a multi (IBF/WBA) beltholder at the time he faced Kova, but intead many just called him a "bum". While Hopkins who beat the exact same guys but didn't get robbed, got his belts and made it to legendary status because of it.
I might actually go to this. The fight is taking place at an actual boxing gym here in Atlanta. I don’t see how it could possibly fit over 100 people. Plus special appearance by Zab Judah! Only problem is the cheapest tickets are like $45. But even with the worst seats, you should end up no further back than the 3rd row.
Probably needs the money. I don't think he made that much money in his career. He did fight for King after all.
I always liked Cloud. Sure the Campillo fight was a disgraceful robbery but Cloud looked beastly on the way up and he had a hard punching aggressive style and I enjoyed watching him fight.
Could end up on Yardes 'bum carousel' with a with a few decent wins as Yarde will likely swerve the Kovalev fight when he fails to get the 'A side' share of the deal. Would be a real shame to be honest as he'd smash Yarde to smithereens in his prime
