Just got home from the fight. Great atmosphere. Barclays put on a good show.

A few nuggets of interest.....

The ring girls were all super hot. Except for 1. She was merely very hot.

Mayweather was walking around by himself, mingling, sitting, talking with people(not me) and taking pics. Seemed very cool.

Paulie(Burt Young) from Rockie got an ovation and cat calls everytime he walked by. And he was wandering around like he didn't have a seat. I think he did it for that reason.

Jean Pascal's woman is a hottie.

Former Olympian Marcus Browne seems like a swell fella.

 

Great writeup. You're completely right. This man really does defy father time again and again. Utilizing his boxing iq to its fullest.

The official odds favored Cloud, how great is that for Hopkins to convincingly beat the official odds against him?

Didn't Dawson lose to Pascal just before Pascal drew and lost to Hopkins?

 

Made some good bucks on this. Odds on Hopkins were basically free money. Ridiculous mispricing.

 

Cloud is a good fighter.....he's a solid or "was" a solid champion. He'll never be an ATG....or even a Hall of famer but that's not something that EVERYONE is able to do (winning a world title, making the hall or being considered an ATG).

You can try to minimize the accomplishment for Nard by discrediting the young champ whom he beat to make history and break his record (AGAIN)....but the truth is styles make fights and this was a classic case of that with other intangibles that produced this outcome. Nard is simply a great fighter...with loads of experience. That was more than what the younger and fresher fighter was able to bring to the ring last night.

Cloud could be MOST LHW's......Nard is a really hard puzzle for most. Bhop plays chess where Cloud tried to play checkers.

 

Cloud isn't terrible kid....he's a good solid boxer who's attributes are his brute force, power and physical style. Similar to Margo whom a more dynamic and well rounded fighter like an aging Mosley feasted on. But Margo was a beast....like Cloud is a beast and they had a LOT of success beating up better boxers. Nard and Shane were two boxers with the styles that made them look like armatures. But it doesn't mean you could beat them or I could be competitive if I had to lace up against either of them.

 

Better than Hearns getting KTFO trying to cherry pick Barkley.

was agreeing with his part about expecting an ugly fight with lots of fouls, because I did have the sense Cloud would bring more activity than either Pascal or Dawson. I admit I was wrong. I partly just wrote that because I wanted everyone to know it was Bama in case it wasn't clearly identified.
