leonard looks so much smaller than hearns in this fight. but the man has balls of steel and undeniable character - thats the resume of any great fighter to be honest. great fight!
I had it 6-4-1 AA going into the 11. I'm an AA fan, but have to say, that a lot of the rounds were pretty close. I don't see how anybody can give either fighter less than 4 rounds in this.
Hope that doesn't happen in the Direll-Froch fight. Kudos to Andy who scored the first six identically to me (3-3) . So I'll take his word on the second six ! The point deduction was a little strict, but well within reason. Taylor's first low blow was blatant and bad. AA must have decent protection in there. I expected Taylor to be ahead on the scorecards when AA stopped him. (Earlier prediction) The fact that he didn't need the KO for the victory, confirms for me that AA's boxing skills have been consistently underrated on here. I have yet to see the KO, but if Jermain walked out on his own steam, he should remain in the tournament. Kelly is probably heaving a huge sigh of relief right now and Bob is telling him "see, son, see what I saved you from ?"
I guess Taylor got his draw in Germany, in that he got KO'ed.:huh A lot of kids who are very jingoistic, trying to score a fight....well, they coulnt a good flashy hook to the gloves as a point. Odd they feel that protecting the liver is chicken too, like not chin checking the whole round.........Boxing is the Art of hitting with out being hit. AA does it his way, Mayweather his, Toney his. Hill beat Maske on points in Germany, Gonzalas won a split decision vs DM in Germany. There are never a German Judge at a World Championship, and most of the time an American Nazi ref. This time the Nazi ref was Mexican. Taylor is famous for low blows and he'd been warned before the fight. I had Taylor up to the low blow. I was up on the edge of my seat. Tailor has a beautiful double jab. The Shell is normal for German fighters, under Wagner....in fact all most all German fighters either fight out of it, or know how to use it from time to time. It is legal....Winky Wright uses it, but does not have AA's power. And to all those who never seen AA fight, (before he learned to box back when he was a pure slugger he went at it from the first round.) I've been watching him since fight 13, the od thing is he learned to box some time. If he listened exactly to his coach, he'd never come out of the shell. This time he did do more in round one, two and three than normal. I thought it a very good fight....and Taylor had tasted AA's power and didn't risk the hook, that he should have been working to AA's ear. The problem with a hook, against some one in the shell , is a straight right hand is faster, and because it's got a shorter way to go. By the end, AA was solidly up, with out the point deduction, 116-114, if one gave the 12th to Tailor, 117-113..for AA.....IMO. S AA does as you see, got a fair jab, and is explosive. Actually He was wild and missing more than he normally does, so Taylor was doing ok, there. AA has the real power you have been denying him. That hook to the gloves, got that reflex move back to bring his hand back to a guard position and , that opened up the gap half a second.....for that hell of a good Straight Right. DAM, That was one hell of a KO....:good I an AA fan had given Taylor good chance, because he owned reach, and was fast and light on his feet. How ever he could not get to going to the side well enough...that was AA's fault. He's not as slow or clumbsy as he looks, and he cuts the ring adaquatly. It is going to be one hellshious....end fight between AA and Kessler. A toss up...again with Kessler having all the aces, reach, better boxer, good solid power.....and he knows the shell.... """""""""""""Kelly is probably heaving a huge sigh of relief right now and Bob is telling him "see, son, see what I saved you from ?""""""""""""""""""" Now who was dodging Who??????? Froch fight not on German TV, until the morning. I saw a good fight, that AA was able to turn up the heat as he normally does after round 6.
