I was routing for JT and favouring what he was doing but still scored it for Pavlik by a couple of rounds, he outworked him.

Personaly i scored it for JT 115-113, but the decision was not controversial. The fight could of gone either way or even been a draw.

I thought that Pavlik won, but I also wanted Pavlik to win and I felt that it was close. The audience was surprisingly hostile toward the decision and there was a lot of yelling on the way out that Taylor had been robbed.

When you fight the Champ you have to do more than do just enough to win. You have to take the championship away. Taylor did not. Pavlik won the 2nd fight.

The rematch was at 166 lbs and wasn't for a belt. Win or lose, Taylor wasn't taking the championship. :hi:

I don't think either guy won, and I think when it's close like that, you call it a draw and mandate an immediate rematch.

    IMO,

    Haters?

You're the one scoring the fight as wide or wider than anyone who's posted here, whether they thought Pavlik won it or not, meaning you looked for a reason to give every remotely close round to Pavlik.

Almost no one has said they were upset with the decision, even if they scored it for Taylor, because the fight was so close... so I don't see where you're finding controversy.

Most everybody has the fight within two points for either guy with it maybe going either way. Do you think there was less controversy because Jermaine didn't complain a lot about the decision? Maybe some fights become controversial more so because the loser won't give credit to the winner? Also, do you guys think those judges that scored it so widely might have been influenced by the fact that everyone knew Jermaine was going to 168 whether he won or lost?

The thread title is "Taylor Beat Pavlik." That is patently false, and designed to stir controversey. When I watched it live I had it 116-112. After watching it 4 times, I think 116-112, or 117-111 is the right score. Nearly every round was competetive, but Pavlik was clearly "the boss" through out the fight.

The judges saw a clear win by Pavlik and the decision was well accepted. You belong to the non-existent minority who saw otherwise.:huh

    Hardly a "non-existent minority":

It was a hard fight to score; it's hard to criticize anyone for having it a couple points in either direction.

Well if you could read you would notice a lot more think Taylor won than you think. I'm not trying to stir up controversy. This is what I saw with my own eyes and a lot of others!

Yeah, you're right, please accept my apology. I was surprised to learn that more people thought Taylor won coz i remember the decision was well accepted, virtually no controversy after the fight. I had even read on papers that Taylor admitted his lost but wanted another fight with Pavlik.:hi:

There was no controversy because Taylor was a good sport about it. He said in the post-fight interview that he felt like he'd done enough to win the fight, but wasn't going to complain about the decision because he felt disrespected when Hopkins' complained about the decisions in their fights. He said he wasn't going to do to Kelly what Bernard did to him.
