Is this the end for British Boxing's very own David Brent? The guy had a good run for a man who was an obvious chancer from day one.
I can't for the life of me figure out why he went with Davison in the first place. Ben "safety first" Davison He's actually not a bad pundit I'll give him that.
It seems like it's ended on good terms, I seen Davison comment wishing Taylor the best of luck in his new link-up with McNally. That said I was never a fan of Taylor going with Davison after leaving McGuigan. Taylor is a tidy boxer but he has that bit of spite in him where when he wants to step on the gas and go up the gears letting his hands go he instinctively will...... so with that in mind, I thought Davison was an odd choice. As it's already been said in this thread "safety first".........
Was never a good fit. Taylor is great on the inside and Davison wants his fighters boxing at range on the backfoot. I know Davison gets stick but to go from Saunders mate to trainer of Fury because he dared him to ask for a birds number to then training Taylor and co-training Haney is some swindling
Am I right in thinking this McNally is a relative unknown as a pro trainer who gained some notoriety from Liam Smith going to him. If so then, surprising choice. Smith hasn't looked great in his last few.
Davison might have become a little smug, but his tactics and training helped Fury get the win in the first Wilder fight. If that had been 'Sugar Hill' or even Roach advising Fury, particularly on the comeback, telling him to 'bring it' to Wilder and 'be the puncher in there' etc., Fury would have been KO'd COLD, probably by the halfway point. And he probably would have retired again. And make no mistake, that's exactly what they would have told him to do because they 'like knockouts' and aren't as smart as Davison. In fact, if Fury hadn't gone off script in that first fight and stood in front of Wilder in the 12th, he wouldn't have been dropped again and would have got the decision and had a very nice victory instead of a one with a massive asterisk because he was almost KO'd at the end.
Taylor’s tactics in the Ramirez fight were spot on whether that was solely on Davison I don’t know.the Catterall fight Taylor lost the plot and his head in the first round after getting nailed.doubt the personalities really gelled either imo though could be wrong.
First few rounds Ramirez was picking him off then Taylor just turned it into a dogfight and got inside, similar to the Prograis fight. Tactics went out the window.
No coincidence that Saunders, Fury and Taylor all had their career worst performances under boxercise Ben
Was nothing like the prograis fight m8 Taylor was well in control and knocked the stuffing out of Ramirez by the eighth round.
